Polish of the Week: Smitten Polish Pink Lemonade

Base: One coat Zoya Get Even
Color: Four coats Smitten Polish Pink Lemonade
Top: One coat of Seche Vite
Application: Excellent (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

For those of you who don't know, when I started this blog, I used to do a post every week called "Polish of the Week". This could be any polish, old or new, that I was really just loving that particular week. I may try to bring this feature back from time to time (maybe not every week), and this week the winner is DEFINITELY Smitten Polish Pink Lemonade. I wanted this polish desperately and finally nabbed it in Smitten Polish's latest restock. Pink Lemonade is a nice mix of pink and purple glitter in a pale yellow jelly-like base.

I have to say, if Smitten ever makes a collection of jellies, BUY THEM. They will be flawless. Both of the polishes I own from her have base colors that are usually considered tricky to apply with streaking (yellow in this polish and white in Confection). However, I experienced NO streaking with either polish and they both applied like a dream. I did use four coats of Pink Lemonade, but you could definitely layer it over a pale yellow. I wanted to maintain the squishy jelly feeling of the base though, so I skipped the layering this time. This also dried super smooth! It didn't even feel like I had glitter on!

Smitten Polish is available on Etsy.com, and you should follow her on Facebook for the latest news about restocks.

Polish of the Week: OPI San Tan-tonio from the Texas Collection!

OPI San Tan-tonio

Mmmmmmmmmm, doesn't this look like coffee with a fair amount of cream? Yummm! The Polish of the Week is OPI San Tan-tonio from the Texas collection. This is the only polish I have from Texas right now, but I'll probably get Houston, We Have a Purple too. As a whole, the collection didn't grab me. San Tan-tonio has been calling to me ever since I saw the promo pics though!

OPI San Tan-tonio

San Tan-tonio is a very smooth tan color, I think it's like a coffee with lots of cream color. This is three coats, but I think two would suffice for daily wear. I kind of messed up applying this on one nail and thought it would be all lumpy, but it levelled itself out! Gotta love OPI!

OPI San Tan-tonio

This isn't the kind of remarkable polish I usually gush about and propose marriage to, but I think it's a great polish staple to have in your wardrobe. San Tan-tonio gets an 9/10 from me!

Polish of the Week: LA Splash Golden Seahorse

LA Splash Golden Seahorse, three coats, no flash
Just when I think I've grown tired of glitter polishes, I find a new one that makes me rediscover my glitter obsession all over again. This week, it's LA Splash Golden Seahorse. I bought this baby at Ulta a few weekends ago. I first noticed the bottle because of it's lovely combination of pale sea foam green and piles of gold glitter. Then, I picked the bottle up and saw that it was named Golden Seahorse. Done.

My mom and I love seahorses. For some reason, I think they are both adorable and also quite fascinating. Look, we even have our very own "golden" seahorse that matches this polish!

This polish is seriously gorgeous. Pale sea foam green, with a hint of baby blue, and a serious amount of gold glitter. It was a bit tough to really capture on camera, partially because of all of the light reflected by the glitter. I think the first picture captures the color well, but doesn't show you the glittery-ness. This one below with flash shows the gold flecks better, but the color is not this dark or blue.

LA Splash Golden Seahorse, three coats, with flash

Despite the amount of glitter in this polish, it felt smooth to the touch with just one coat of top coat. Removal seemed easier than usual too, I can't really explain why that would be the case though. I do not know how the LA Splash brand wears. This is my first experience with the brand and I just swatched this today. When I wear it as a full mani in the future, I'll let you know how it goes.

LA Splash Golden Seahorse, three coats, no flash

This color is so springy/summery, it really made me long for a balmy 75 degree day. I will definitely be wearing this all the time in the spring and summer. I love the combination of pale, cool-toned green/blue and warm-toned gold glitter. Very cool! I would like to try more of LA Splash's polishes. Do you have any experience with them?

Polish of the Week: Nubar Indigo Illusion

Nubar Indigo Illusion, two coats, with flash

I originally planned to show you a whole bunch of EK's Nubars in one post, but it's been really hard to swatch around here. It's always cloudy! I had time to swatch this morning, but it was really overcast and then started to snow. So, I only have Nubar Indigo Illusion for you today, and the pictures are a bit dark. But, man, this polish is gorgeous!

Nubar Indigo Illusion, two coats, no flash

The VNL you see in these pictures isn't visible in person. I find that happens with some duochrome and metallic polishes. They look really opaque to my naked eye, but then the pictures look sheer! Anyway, the formula on this was great. Two coats, even coverage, nice flow onto the nail.

Nubar Indigo Illusion, two coats, no flash

I love Nubar duochromes. I really wish they would come out with more this year. I'll definitely swatch the rest as soon as I see the sun again!

Nubar polishes are available online at Nubar.

Polish of the Week: OPI Extra-va-vaganza!

OPI Extra-va-vaganza!, three coats, no flash

2010 was definitely the year of glitter polish going mainstream. OPI Absolutely Alice really kicked it off and the frenzy just continued all year. I was already in love with glitters long before Alice, but Alice really started off a period of time where I wore full coverage glitters almost every single mani. As much as I love glitters, this did eventually get old. I took a good long break from wearing any glitters. I didn't even buy any of the OPI Burlesque collection!!!

OPI Extra-va-vaganza!, three coats, with flash

I did, however, decide to put some of the Burlesque glitters on my Christmas list, and my mom was nice enough to put OPI Extra-va-vaganza! in my stocking. I had originally planned some kind of cool grey ombre mani for New Year's Eve, but then I got the flu. I spent most of yesterday in bed sleeping, but I had to do my nails for New Year's Eve!!! So, I tried out Extra-va-vaganza!

OPI Extra-va-vaganza!, three coats, no flash(blurry, but I thought it showed the blue-green pieces decently)

I am really glad my mom got this for me. It is totally sucking me back into my glitter kick. This is a mix of coppery-gold, silver, pink, and blue-green glitter pieces. All of the pieces are the same size and shape, just like the glitter in Absolutely Alice and Mad as a Hatter. I'm sure you've seen all of the OPI Burlesque glitters before, but I really am loving it, so I wanted to name it Polish of the Week.

I missed glitter <3!!!

Polish Combo of the Week: OPI and Nubar 2010!

I finally got Nubar 2010 for my birthday, even though I've been wanting it all year. I love Nubar, but sometimes I don't order from them often because the shipping is pricey, the polishes themselves are kind of pricey, etc. It doesn't seem worth it if you're only ordering a few polishes. But let me tell you, Nubar 2010 is absolutely worth the expense!!!

with flash

I wore two coats of OPI William Tell Me About OPI to a fancy dinner party this week. The morning after the party, I decided it would be the perfect base for Nubar 2010. I was SO right. The flakies really pop against such a dark background. I LOVE the way these flakies are reddish/orange sometimes and green depending on how you look at them. I tried to capture the green in the photo below, sorry for the blurriness.

I am wearing two coats of William Tell Me About OPI and two coats of Nubar 2010 in all of these pictures. You can see William Tell Me About OPI alone here. I didn't want to take this combination off, but by the time I put 2010 on, I had been wearing William Tell for a few days, so there was some tip wear and a few chips going on. I'll definitely be wearing this combo again soon!

Polish of the Week: Ulta Total Eclipse

I have a couple of Ulta polishes to review for you over the next few days. I'm starting with a really cool super dark grey called Total Eclipse. It looks almost black in some lights, but is way more flattering than harsh black polish. This picture does not do the polish justice, as it was raining and cloudy when I took it.

This is my first experience with Ulta's own brand of polish and it was a pretty good one! I love this color and the formula was easy to work with. This is three coats, but you could easily do two. I am not the biggest fan of Ulta's wear time. This polish seemed to chip quickly, about one day after application.

I'll definitely try to get a better picture of Total Eclipse when I post the next Ulta polish!

Ulta polish retails for $7.50, but they always have sales and deals on it. Right now, Ulta polish is buy one get one free on Ulta.com.

Polish of the Week: OPI You Don't Know Jacques

OPI You Don't Know Jacques, two coats, no flash

OK so we've all seen this one before. However, it's still very much on trend with all the other greige-y, purple-y taupes that are popular right now. OPI You Don't Know Jacques is a great staple to have in your collection.

OPI You Don't Know Jacques, two coats, no flash

YDKJ is a taupe creme, in case you haven't heard. It was opaque in two coats and the formula was pure OPI greatness. Some people report seeing some purple tint to the taupe, but on me it looked like milk chocolate. I really don't own many polishes this calm and not bright/glittery/neon/vampy, etc. YDKJ is definitely a good addition to your polish wardrobe if you don't already own it.

OPI You Don't Know Jacques, two coats, no flash

On another note, a follower (thanks girl) let me know that some of my pictures and posts have been copied and posted on another website. I don't mind any readers sharing my posts with others, but please credit me for my own work! If you re-post anything from this blog, please add that it came from Never Enough Nails and link back to this site. I am going to start watermarking my pictures as well. Blah!

I have some good Halloween manis coming up soon, so stay tuned for those!

Polish of the Week: Color Club Revvvolution

Color Club Revvvolution, three coats, no flash

As promised, Polish of the Week this week is a fall appropriate color, Color Club Revvvolution! Revvvolution is one of my all time favorite fall and winter colors, so it was an obvious choice for me to wear for one of my first fall manis. Check out the gorgeous black/charcoal holo goodness.

Color Club Revvvolution, three coats, blurry with flash to show holo

I'm sure most of you have seen this before, but I'm betting not all of you own it. If you don't own it, it is a serious MUST HAVE! It is more holo than the bad versions of OPI My Private Jet, so even if you already own a bottle of that, you still need Revvvolution! The formula on this one is great as well, and whenever I wear it, I can't stop staring at my nails!

Color Club Revvvolution is a little hard to find, but Transdesign has it in stock! Just click on "Color Club Polishes A-Z"

Polish of the Week: Essie Mini Shorts

Essie Mini Shorts, three coats, no flash

Essie Mini Shorts is from the Essie 2008 Summer Collection and has been a staple in my summer polish wardrobe since it's release. I picked this for the polish of the week because I am desperately trying to hang on to summer, even as it's flying away from me. I love fall and winter, but I just hate to see the end of summer. I love going to the beach, kayaking, and other things that just become impossible when the temperature drops.

These pictures are a little blurry, but it's so hard to capture the brightness of neons that I had to compromise the picture quality. I think I captured it well in the first picture though! Being a neon, it dries matte and needs a top coat to be shiny. My mom and I wear this polish on our toes a LOT during the summer. This is truly one of my all time favorite polishes.

Essie Mini Shorts is available online at Amazon.com.

Next week I promise to give in to September and have a more appropriate Polish of the Week.

Polish of the Week: Sally Hansen Calypso Blue

Sally Hansen Calypso Blue, three coats, no flash

The Polish of the Week is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Calypso Blue!

Sally Hansen Calypso Blue, three coats, with flash

This poor polish has been sitting in my "To Try" pile since June. For some reason I thought it would be really sheer and I am NOT interested in a sheer blue. When I put the first coat of this on, it was sheer. I got a little sad. But after the second coat, I could see that it was going in the right direction. I did three coats in all of these pictures and there is a tiny bit of VNL, but not so hideous that I wouldn't wear this polish.

Sally Hansen Calypso Blue, three coats, no flash

I really like this color. It's a gorgeous ocean-y, water-y blue with some almost duochrome-like shimmer. The shimmer is kind of green/gold at times. My pictures make this polish look a little lighter than it is in person. It's not sky blue at all, it's definitely like water blue. Formula was good, easy to apply and dried relatively fast. The first nail I did got a little chunk of dried polish in it, which is annoying, but the rest of the nails were fine (except for the bubbles, but I was sitting next to an open window, oops!). This is a very pretty summer polish. It's not 100% unique/groundbreaking, but it's very pretty nonetheless.

Sally Hansen polishes are available at a CVS near you.

Polish (BARGAIN) of the Week: Wet and Wild Glitz

Wet and Wild Glitz, three coats, no flash

The polish of the week is gorgeous, glitter-packed, and DIRT CHEAP. I'm talking about Wet and Wild Glitz. Look at this pink, baby blue and silver glitter!! These pictures don't do this polish enough justice. I couldn't stop staring at my nails. The best part? Glitz set me back a total of $1.39. Yes, you read that correctly. $1.39.

Wet and Wild Glitz, three coats, with flash

In these pictures, I am wearing three pretty thick coats of Glitz (the base is clear, so you do have to kind of load it on to get coverage). So you can imagine my surprise when I wore this for four days with absolutely no chips or tip wear. As much as I love OPI Absolutely Alice and Mad as a Hatter, I can't say the same for them. I get chips with those two in less than a day! My only wish is that Wet and Wild would make a ton more of these glitters in all different colors!! I would definitely buy them all!

Wet and Wild Glitz is available at your local Walmart or at Harmon online (they're a whopping $1.79 online though!).

Polish of the Week: SinfulColors Dancing Nails

SinfulColors Dancing Nails, three coats, no flash

Just a really quick Polish of the Week post today! The weather has been horrible here. I had some more pictures planned for today, but it's been pouring all day.

Polish of the Week is SinfulColors Dancing Nails. I'm on a SinfulColors kick right now. This one is a metallic rose color, with a really slight duochrome effect. It's a very pretty color. It's probably not completely unique, but it's definitely a good staple in my collection. It's quite elegant looking, without being boring. I did three coats, but two was fine off-camera. The formula was a nice consistency, not too thick, not too thin. The brush was the same as the Timbleberry brush- kind of firm. But I'm growing to appreciate that. It offers a lot of control over polish application.

Plus, as a dancer, this gets polish of the week just for the name Dancing Nails LOL!!!

SinfulColors Dancing Nails, three coats, no flash

SinfulColors polishes are available at your local Walgreens. Plus, the SinfulColors website will have an online store soon, how great is that!!??

Polish of the Week: Sinful Colors Timbleberry

Boy, the Polish of the Week feature sure got abandoned in recent weeks!! But I'm bringing it back because I still have loads of forgotten and obscure goodies to show you.

SinfulColors Timbleberry, two coats, no flash

The Polish of the Week this week should also be named "Bargain of the Week". SinfulColors Timbleberry is $1.99, like all other SinfulColors polishes! Now, I don't really know what a Timbleberry is, but this color is gorgeous and screams Summer! It's one of those orange-y/red/coral/little bit pink polishes that I think almost everyone loves during the summer months.

For some reason, I left this beauty sitting on my dresser for a month. I think I thought it was going to be kind of sheer and that I would need like 5 coats to reach bottle color (it did cost $1.99 after all!). But that was NOT the case at all! Shown is just two coats!! The coats coats applied super smoothly and dried in good time. The brush on this polish was kind of stiff, but I actually liked it. It just takes some getting used to. This polish would be fantastic on toes as well! I would call this a Must Have if you're looking for this kind of color. For $1.99, you can't beat it! I only got one picture in before it started to thunderstorm, but I think I'm going to do a coral/red/orange comparison post this week, so I'll post more pics then.

SinfulColors polishes are available at a Walgreens near you.

By the way, did you know that Chanel Particuliere is available on Chanel.com again? If you missed out the first time, you can grab it now, along with Chanel's fall polish, Paradoxal.

Polish of the Week: China Glaze Orange Marmalade

China Glaze Orange Marmalade, three coats, no flash

After having China Glaze Strawberry Fields as the last Polish of the Week, I decided to dig up another polish from the 2009 China Glaze Summer Days collection- China Glaze Marmalade.

All the polishes in the Summer Days collection are that beautiful glass-fleck finish that China Glaze does so well. Orange Marmalade is a gorgeous, super sparkly medium orange. This color is perfect for summer. I wear orange polish a lot in the summer, especially on my toes. It's just so bright and cheery.

China Glaze Orange Marmalade, three coats, no flash

I did three coats of Orange Marmalade in these pictures. The polish dries fairly quickly and wears like iron! I wore this for four days with no chips and hardly any tip wear. The best thing about the glass-fleck finish is that it's as shiny and sparkly as glitter, but it's really easy to remove. It removes just like any other polish. I wish more companies would develop a formula like this. Super sparkly, without the hassle!

China Glaze Orange Marmalade, three coats, with flash

China Glaze Orange Marmalade, along with the rest of the Summer Days collection, is available online at 8ty8Beauty.

This was kind of a short and sweet post today, but I do have a good review of four of the polishes from the Essie Summer Collection- Demure Vixen, Knockout Pout, Haute as Hello, and, of course, Pretty Edgy! Hopefully, I'll have that review up later tonight/tomorrow morning!

Polish of the Week: China Glaze Atlantis

China Glaze Atlantis, three coats, with flash

Polish of the Week this week is one that we already featured when the China Glaze 50 Glitters came out. However, it's so gorgeous, I really think it deserves it's own post. I'm talking about China Glaze Atlantis. This polish is a beautiful sea green jelly base packed with tons of small silver and green glitter pieces. The effect is stunning. It reminds me of being underwater in really clear water and looking up to see the sunlight streaming down. Atlantis makes me want to go swimming ASAP. Sadly, I have to work instead.

China Glaze Atlantis, three coats, with flash

This is three coats of Atlantis and there is a little VNL as with most jelly polishes. It doesn't bother me on this one though! EK has had this polish since the 50 Glitters came out and I have been jealous of it ever since then. I finally purchase my own recently and am SOOOOOO glad I did. This is a total MUST HAVE.

China Glaze Atlantis is available online at 8ty8 Beauty.

Polish of the Week: China Glaze Reggae to Riches

China Glaze Reggae to Riches, three coats, no flash

We've gotten off track with Polish of the Week lately! I've been so busy and also trying to fit in a little relaxing time that I've let that feature slide for two or three weeks! Ahh!

China Glaze Reggae to Riches, three coats, sunlight

But never fear, Polish of the Week is back with China Glaze Reggae to Riches, a lovely red-purple jelly with blue duochrome effect. HOT! I would call the color fuchsia with blue duochrome, but I feel like "fuchsia" is one of those colors that everyone has a very specific concept of and everyone's concept is different LOL (like "coral", have you noticed that everyone's definition of "coral" is different?). Anyway, the blue flash makes this polish totally unique in my collection. The blue flash was also a little hard to capture properly, I feel like it's more noticeable in person. That's why I took the picture below with flash, so you can clearly see the blue.

China Glaze Reggae to Riches, three coats, with flash

The formula of Reggae to Riches is pretty good. The first coat was a little streaky and I had some bare patches, but that was easily fixed with the second and third coats. There is a little bit of VNL in some lights, but as this is a jelly polish, that's pretty much to be expected.

China Glaze Reggae to Riches is available at your local Sally Beauty Supply store or online at Transdesign.
