Valentine's Day NOTD with OPI and What's Up Nails

*Some products sent for review*

Valentine's Day isn't really my thing, but I typically do try to do a mani for it at least. This year I went simple, but eye catching, with OPI Let's Be Friends as a base for some hearts. Let's Be Friends is from the Hello Kitty collection and I forgot how much I liked it until I put it on for this mani. It makes a great stark white pink base for the hearts. I used these heart chain stencils from What's Up Nails and Vapid Lacquer Hard Candy for the hearts.

If you are planning on celebrating Valentine's Day I hope you get lots of chocolate and have a fun evening!

Snowflake Mani with Vapid and Sally Hansen!

Happy Monday! There is some snow expected here tomorrow/Wednesday, so I thought it was time for a snowflake mani. I picked up a Vapid Lacquer Winter Midnight one-off in the Purge sale. A one-off just means that something about the polish is slightly off from the formula. I can't really tell what is different between my one-off and regular Winter Midnight, maybe it's a little lighter or has fewer of the white shimmer flakes? Whatever the difference is, it's beautiful!

I used What's Up Nails snowflake vinyls for this and sponged on some Sally Hansen Insta Dri Silver Sweep. I also used Vapid Catsuit latex to make clean up easier and prevent getting the silver polish on my skin. Kinda hoping my snowflake nails bring me a snow day tomorrow 😉!

I believe Krys from Vapid has said that Winter Midnight will be available again. Check out http://vapid.mybigcommerce.com and keep an eye on the Vapid Facebook page for restock info.

Happy Vapid Valentine's Day!!

*Purchased by me*

Happy Valentine's Day!! I don't typically do many Valentine's Day manicures, it's just not my favorite holiday. But I recently got Vapid Lacquer Hard Candy and happened to have these What's Up Nails heart vinyls, so I figured I should put them to good use! Vapid Hard Candy is a gorgeous hot pink metallic with lots of scattered holographic particles. The base color just glows with beautiful shimmer and then the holo particles on top are so pretty!

The accent nail here is OPI Pink Friday with the What's Up Nails heart vinyls. They came out great except for the one on the bottom, that's kind of a mutated heart for some reason LOL. These vinyls are pretty easy to use, except I did have a hard time getting all of the solid hearts out of the stencil portion, even with tweezers.

This is three thin coats of Vapid Hard Candy, it's pretty opaque though, so two coats should be fine. I am loving this color!! The formula is great, very smooth and easy to apply. I used one layer of top coat and it is nice and glossy.

Vapid Hard Candy is currently sold out, but hopefully Krys will bring it back at some point. Keep an eye on http://vapid.mybigcommerce.com for restock dates. The heart vinyls are available on What's Up Nails. What's Up Nails also has a great selection of St. Patrick's Day nail art supplies, I have my eye on a few things!

Vapid Lacquer NPX-BPRO

*Purchased by me*

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I spent the weekend trying to recover from the stomach bug that hit me like a bus last week. Now, I normally hate to show you polishes that are no longer readily available for sale, but every once in awhile I just have to break my own rules. Vapid Lacquer NPX-BPRO is so beautiful that I just had to share it with you!! NPX stands for "nail polish experiment" and BPRO is simply blue, purple, red, orange. I can see all of those colors in various lighting and the shiftiness is awesome! The colors I see the most are blue and purple. I saw some pictures with a lot of teal shift, but I only see a tiny flash of teal.

NPX-BPRO has color-shifting flakies and shimmer. It was easy to apply and was perfectly opaque in just two coats.  It also wore like iron. I wore it for 5 days and had only a little bit of tip wear, no chips. I used Dr.'s Remedy Basic Base Coat (my current favorite) and Vapid Lacquer Quick Dry Top Coat.

The NPX series was just a one-time run, due to some ingredients not being available any longer. However, I have seen it for sale in the Vapid Facebook group, as well as Nearly No Rules. So if you look hard enough, you may be able to snag one!

Vapid will be launching some new pretties this Saturday (January 28), so check out http://vapid.mybigcommerce.com for more Vapid goodies.

Christmas Trees and Reindeer Games!

*Lynnderella Holly Jolly Jammy sent as a gift, all other products purchased by me*

'Twas the Sunday before Christmas... OMG I can't believe it's already the Sunday before Christmas! I have so much shopping and baking to do, it's not even funny! I have my NOTD for the last few days to show you and I'm really enjoying wearing this one. For this mani, I used Vapid Lacquer Reindeer Games on my thumb, index, and pinkie nails, and then did two coats of OPI Angel with a Lead Foot on the other middle and ring nails. I used What's Up Nails Ribbon Tree vinyls and used Lynnderella Holly Jolly Jammy for the body of the tree and Lynnderella All Hallow's Gold for the stars.

Vapid Reindeer Games is amazing, by the way! It's the perfect Christmas red with a smattering of holo sparkles. I think I will have to wear it again, maybe for Christmas Day. The two Lynnderella worked beautifully for the tree and the star and the nail vinyls were incredibly easy to use. What's Up Nails really makes a great product, if you haven't tried them yet. They are perfect for the lazy nail artist, like myself.

I sported this festive look for decorating my Christmas tree, as well as some of the Christmas parties at work. I have some more What's Up Nails vinyls for the Christmas season, so this isn't the last vinyl mani you'll see from me this year.

The Vapid store is closed until the new year, so you can't get Reindeer Games right now. Maybe check around in some Facebook groups in case someone is selling it. Lynnderella All Hallow's Gold (my custom) is available now on the Lynnderella eBay store. Holly Jolly Jammy was a Christmas gift from Lynnderella last year, so that's unavailable as well. Happily, you can nab the ribbon tree vinyls at What's Up Nails, along with other fantastic Christmas vinyls.

Vapid Weaponized Guilt

*Purchased by me*

Just popping in today to share my NOTD from last week- Vapid Lacquer Weaponized Guilt. Weaponized Guilt is a unique blackened green/bronze shimmer. Vapid describes it as "Blackened, burnished gold with green leanings".  It looks different depending on the lighting situation, sometimes it looks more green and other times much more like an antique gold. It ended up being a murkier, darker color on me most of the time. I bet the shimmer would really pop in the sunlight, but I just happened to wear this on a couple of cloudy rainy days.

This is two coats of Weaponized Guilt. It was nicely opaque, almost a one-coater, but I did two to bring out the shimmer. I felt like the formula was a tad thicker than some other Vapids I have tried and it made it a little harder to get the perfect application near the cuticle. But that's why we have Acetone and clean-up brushes, right?

Weaponized Guilt is still available on the Vapid site, http://vapid.mybigcommerce.com. The shop is going to close for a holiday break tonight though, so get any last minute orders in ASAP!!! They will reopen in January though, in case you can't order today!

Vapid Lacquer Batnado!

*Purchased by me*

Happy Saturday! I hope you have some fun plans for the weekend. I have to work a bit today, but then I am going to a Halloween party! Today's Halloween nails are brought to you by Vapid Lacquer. This polish was part of a set that included two polishes plus magnets from The Holo Pineapple made with Vapid polishes. Vapid Lacquer Batnado has holo silver bats, black bats, plus smaller blue and silver holo glitters of various shapes and sizes in a clear base. I love bats, I think they are amazing creatures and actually very cute, plus the name Batnado is fantastic!!

This is one dabbed coat of Batnado over one coat of Sally Hansen Black to Black. I did not use any of the black bats in Batnado (since they wouldn't show up over my base), so I did have to fish out the silver bats and apply them. Overall, this was pretty easy to use and the bats are very plentiful.

Sadly, Batnado is no longer available. The set it came in was only stocked once. If you join the Vapid Lacquer fan group on Facebook (Vapicorns), someone may have it for sale there. The good news though? Vapid is having a restock today for some of their other amazing polishes and a new one called Smoke Screen! Check it out today at 1pm Central time at vapidlacquer.com.

Vapid Digit Dust for a Spa-like Mani!

*Purchased by me*

Hi everybody!!! Sorry about the long, unexpected blogging break! I broke a nail on my swatching hand really badly, then I was sick, and then crazy busy. But now I should be getting back in the saddle here. I plan to do lots of Halloween stuff over the next week and I have the delicious Zoya holiday collection coming up too. For today, I'm just dropping in with a little recommendation for Vapid Digit Dust. If you like to do a nail soak as part of your mani routine, you should definitely give this stuff a try! Digit Dust is kind of like a mani bomb crumbled up, which is nice because you can control how much of it you want to use. It is really moisturizing too, and the moisture stays with you for awhile too, it doesn't disappear the next time you wash your hands.

I currently have two scents of Digit Dust- Cherry Snow Cone (smells just like a cherry snow cone!) and Vapi-Birthday!, which smells like cake and vanilla and all sorts of yummy stuff. I am planning on ordering another scent, Drunken Punk'n. I have the nail sauce in that scent and it is SO GOOD!!! So I clearly need the matching Digit Dust.

Vapid Digit Dust is available now on vapidlacquer.com.

Vapid Spellcaster!!

*Purchased by me*

I am finally wearing the coveted Vapid Lacquer Spellcaster! Vapid had a fall/Halloween restock on Sunday, so I thought I'd break out Spellcaster for a bit of luck to help me get everything I wanted in the restock. Spellcaster has a deep burgundy linear holo base with green shimmer and shifting flakie accents. Mine is from the second release and I think the original was more purple-based. Mine also seems to lack some of the intense green shimmer I've seen in photographs, but I could still catch glimpses of it in certain lighting. It's beautiful nonetheless and I am enjoying wearing it.

This is two easy coats. The formula is great, very easy to apply and little to no clean-up needed for me.

Here you can see the green shift-

Spellcaster is a Hella Holo Customs exclusive and is no longer available, although if you join HHC on Facebook, you may be able to buy one from someone.

So what did I get from the Vapid restock?? The Boo-tacular Box (a collab with The Holo Pineapple featuring two polishes, magnets made with polishes and a squishy slime toy), Apparition, a new color from the fall collection called Weaponized Guilt, Drunken Pun'kin Nail Sauce, and some soaps! Some things are still around on the site, check it out at http://vapid.mybigcommerce.com.

NOTD Vapid Lacquer Wanderlust

*Purchased by me*

Happy Caturday everyone! And happy Labor Day weekend to my U.S. readers. I hope you all have fun plans for the weekend. I have a family party today and then maybe some tropical storm prep (Hermine is headed my way). I finally got around to wearing Vapid Lacquer Wanderlust today and I am not sure why it took me so long to wear this beauty!! Wanderlust is a soft periwinkle with TONS of baby pink shimmer. This isn't like a hidden shimmer, this is a BAM IN YOUR FACE shimmer, just the way I like it!! This is a truly unique nail polish in my stash of 2000+ polishes.

On top of being stunning, Wanderlust is also very easy to apply and perfectly opaque in two coats! I read that some people thought this was a little brushstroke-y, but I don't really see that in person. I see it maybe a little in these pics, but to my naked eye, it looks nice and smooth. Plus I don't care because it's gorgeous.

Vapid Lacquer Wanderlust isn't available right now on the Vapid site, but hopefully Krys will bring it back someday. If she does, I recommend that you pounce on this ASAP.

Vapid Lacquer Pegasus Poots

*Purchased by me*

Happy Monday everybody *grumble grumble*. If it has to be Monday, at least I'm wearing this stunner- Vapid Lacquer Pegasus Poots. Pegasus Poots is a pastel lavender linear holo. It's so soft looking and gorgeous, and the holo is nicely prominent in brighter lighting. I bought this and the pastel turquoise holo Twerk-quoise at the same time back in the winter and have been saving them for spring sunshine! Krys's description of this polish cracks me up. She says " Sweet, light violet... with rainbows, marshmallows and butter creme frosting. Right? That's what it would smell like... I mean think about it. Pegasus eat cotton candy ...". I had the matching Nail Sauce (just used it up last week!) and it definitely smelled like rainbow candy, marshmallows and butter creme frosting! I love how she's making polishes and then Nail Sauce scents to match, so cute!!

This is two easy coats. The application was flawless, no patchiness and no clean up needed! Perfection!

I believe Vapid Pegasus Poots will be restocked in the shop this coming Saturday, May 21. There are lots of new goodies coming out then too, can't wait! For more restock info, check out Vapid's Facebook page.

Vapid Lacquer Ostara

 *Purchased by me*

This buttery yellow creme is the lovely Vapid Lacquer Ostara. Ostara is from the Vapid Goddess of Spring collection, a group of five perfect pastels for spring, named after five goddesses. I am a sucker for good pastel yellows, so I had to try this out. It has shimmer that you can see in the bottle, but on the nail it wasn't very visible. I always think the addition of shimmer helps pale cremes apply better though.

This is two coats of Ostara and I am pretty impressed with the formula. The first coat had some streaks on some of my nails (the ones I was more careful with had no streaks and were almost opaque in one coat!). After the second coat, everything was opaque and streak-free! The consistency is great too and made it easy to apply.

Vapid Lacquer Ostara is available now on http://vapid.mybigcommerce.com in the full 15 ml size or the new 9ml Shmedium size, and it's also available in the Goddess of Spring sets with all five from the spring collection. Check out Vapid Lacquer on Facebook for new collection info and restock times!

Vapid Lacquer Base Coat and Top Coat Review!!

*Purchased by me*

I've been meaning to write this review for awhile since I am totally in love with my Vapid Lacquer All About That Base and Get Your Shine On! Quick Dry Top Coat. Vapid Lacquer is having a restock this Saturday that includes these two products, so I thought I should post this now! All About That Base is a strengthening base coat that also seems to help prolong my manis. Since I started using the Vapid base coat about 5-6 weeks ago, I have noticed I have fewer peelies on my thumb nails. My thumbs always have peelies because I am a bad nail blogger and use them as tools. But the Vapid base coat is starting to help me get rid of them! I think in a few more weeks, the existing peelies I had will probably grow out and be gone. So I love this base coat just for that. But wait- there's more!!

When I use the Vapid base coat and the Get Your Shine On! top coat for a mani, my nails still look great 4-5 days later! Above you can see my YSL Peace Green mani after 4 days of wear (including hot showers every day, dish washing, lots of hand washing after touching germy kids at dance class, etc.). There is a bit of tip wear and my right thumb had one small chip. But I have to tell you, most true quick dry top coats and I don't get along. My usual wear time with a QDTC is 1-2 days max. After that it is a hot chippy mess. So for me to get 4-5 days with a real QDTC (dry to the touch in 60 seconds!) is a serious personal victory. I also have to say that this top coat packs SERIOUS shine! The shine also lasts, it doesn't start to look dull on day 3. The Vapid base and top coat get an A+ from me!

Two more awesome Vapid things that will be available this Saturday- Chocolate Body Mousse and Nail Sauce! Chocolate Body Mousse is a delectable body cream that smells like hot chocolate or chocolate pudding. It is really nicely moisturizing, but doesn't feel too heavy or greasy. I am addicted to this now and sometimes I even open the jar just to look at it! I mean, it looks delicious, doesn't it?

Binx wanted to get in on my photo shoot, LOL!

Nail Sauce is a great cuticle product with a gel-creme hybrid consistency. It sinks right in to the nail area and makes my cuticles look so much better instantly. I bought it in two different scents- Unicorn Milk and Birthday Bitch. Unicorn Milk smells like Fruit Loops with a touch of vanilla frosting, while Birthday Bitch smells exactly like German Chocolate Cake, in my opinion. I have been using this product almost daily since purchasing and plan to order at least one more scent this Saturday. I have already nearly used up Unicorn Milk! I love this for cuticle moisturizing that seems enjoyable, rather than a chore.

The Vapid base and top coats have really made a positive difference in my nail health, as well as how often I can wear manis. Now that I can use a QDTC, I find it MUCH easier to just slap on a new mani whenever I want and not have to worry about it chipping a day later. I highly recommend all four of the products in this post.

Restock info: The restock will be at 1pm CT (Central Time) at http://vapid.mybigcommerce.com. For complete details about what will be restocked, please check out the Vapid Lacquer Facebook page.
