Dr.'s Remedy Hot Hot Hot Collection Swatches and Review!

Tranquil Tangerine

I finally have the whole Dr.'s Remedy Hot Hot Hot Summer 2011 collection for your viewing pleasure! I work different hours in the summer, and I'm still adjusting to the new schedule. Swatching is more difficult with my summer schedule, but I'll find a way!

Tranquil Tangerine

First up we have the polish that is tied for my favorite of this collection (with Bold Baby Blue, of course), Tranquil Tangerine. Tranquil Tangerine is a really bright tangerine shimmer. Tranquil Tangerine is not a straight-up orange color, it definitely has quite a bit of yellow mixed into it. I love this color for summer, it's so cheerful and bright! I also can't think of anything similar to this in my collection. If you are wondering about China Glaze Orange Marmalade, that is much more of a true orange than this polish, they are not at all alike.

Tranquil Tangerine

Tranquil Tangerine was a breeze to apply. It flowed nicely on to the nail and was quite even in the first coat. This is only two coats. I will absolutely wear this one quite a lot. I raved about Bold Baby Blue, but this one is just as good! They also look great next to each other, by the way. I think I'll wear a Bold Baby Blue pedi with a Tranquil Tangerine mani soon!

Bold Baby Blue

Speaking of Bold Baby Blue, I wanted to include a picture of it in this post just for continuity. I've already said that this polish is fantastic, lovely formula, amazing color. I did also finally do a wear test of this polish! Below, you can see my nails after four days of wearing Bold Baby Blue. No tip wear, no real chips. There is a little crack in my first and second nails, but that is really due to the condition of those two nails themselves I'd say. Those nails are not in the best shape honestly. For a polish to look this good on day four is a great feat for me! My nails don't seem to like wearing polish longer than two days, so if it lasts like this on me, it will probably make it for a week on others.

Nurture Nude Pink

Next in the collection we have Nurture Nude Pink. Not my favorite color of the bunch, but not a bad polish either. This is three coats, it was a bit streaky with two, but the third coat evened it out nicely. For a nude pink, the pigmentation is decent as well. You can see a little VNL in the pictures, but it was barely visible in person.

Nurture Nude Pink

Sadly, Nurture Nude Pink has an AMAZING magenta shimmer in the bottle. In fact, Nurture Nude Pink was the first polish I tried from this collection because I was SOOO excited about the gorgeous magenta shimmer! A nude pink with magenta shimmer, how cool would that be? But, alas, when applied, the magenta shimmer completely disappeared. Not a trace of it can be seen. Sigh. Still, Nurture Nude Pink is a nice nude pink if you're looking for one of those!

Lovely Lavender

Ahhh, Lovely Lavender. Lovely Lavender was, unfortunately, my least favorite in this collection. The color looks very nice, it's kind of like some of the deeper grays we've been seeing, but with a strong hit of purple. I was all set to appreciate this one. Until...

Lovely Lavender

Application on this one was not so hot. The formula is thicker than the other Dr.'s Remedy polishes I have tried. When I applied the first coat, I could tell it was thick. I attempted to apply a very thin coat, and it left me with odd bare patches. So, I applied a thicker second coat, and ended up with a gooey mess that didn't really dry. By the time I ruined my ring and pinky nails, I didn't want to redo this because I really had had enough of Lovely Lavender. I do like the color of this a lot, so I think I'll try adding a drop of thinner and see how that goes. I also could have gotten just a bad bottle, as their polishes are not usually thick like this.

Glee Gold

And after that short foray into disappointment, we're back to the love fest with Glee Gold! Glee Gold is a beautiful light gold sparkling shimmer polish. It has that cool texture where it seems like you can see the individual shimmer particles. It's not quite a smooth shimmer, but not like a foil either. Very cool.

Glee Gold

The formula on Glee Gold was excellent. For such a pale gold, this was decently pigmented! I did three coats for the camera, but I think I would wear two. I can never own enough golds or silvers, so I really love this one. I can't think of a pale gold in my collection with this kind of texture either!

Glee Gold

Overall, I like this collection a lot! I love the idea of blues, golds and tangerines for summer. Those are very summery colors, in my opinion. Bold Baby Blue and Tranquil Tangerine are MUST HAVES! Glee Gold is a must have if you love golds like I do. Nurture Nude Pink is great nude pink option for those of you concerned with work appropriate colors. The only one I didn't love was Lovely Lavender, but, it's a lovely color so I am going to give it another shot with some thinner!

Dr.'s Remedy polishes are Big Three free, and contain tea tree oil and garlic bulb extract, which are naturally occurring anti-fungal and antibacterial ingredients. The polishes also contain wheat protein and vitamins to strengthen nails. Dr.'s Remedy polishes are available online at Remedy Nails.
