OPI SoftShades 2016 Pastels Swatches & Review!

*Sent for review*

It FINALLY feels like spring here in CT, woohoooo!!!! To celebrate, I finally swatched the OPI SoftShades 2016 colors. I just couldn't get in the mood for them earlier, you know? But now I am all about the soft pastel shades, like OPI I Am What I Amethyst. I Am What I Amethyst is a pale lilac, almost like a soft white creme mixed with hints of lavender. Depending on the light, it can look grey or soft purpley-blue too, and just one of those pretty hints of color, rather than a color that hits you in the face.

This is two coats and the formula was good. I was surprised that it really wasn't streaky and it was nicely opaque. I let the first coat dry before applying the second, as I would recommend with all pastels (to avoid any possible streaks). The consistency of this was perfect, it made it so easy to apply.

OPI It's In the Cloud is an off-white creme, maybe a little crelly-ish. It's a little brighter than an eggshell white, but still soft looking. Definitely not a chalky or stark looking white.

This is three thin coats for me, and I did still see a bit of streakiness. The coverage was nicely opaque in three coats, I felt two still had a bit of VNL. I have seen others describe this as having a perfect formula though, so it could be just me here!

Now we're getting into my territory here! OPI This Cost Me a Mint is a lovely pale mint creme. This is definitely one of the paler mint cremes I've seen recently and I am loving it. It's like the creamy color of a Shamrock Shake, yum! Or those pastel pillow mints. Mmmmm I'm just making myself want tasty treats now. I like this too because it is a true pale green, it's not too blue-toned.

This is two easy coats. The formula of this one was great- full coverage, no streaks, fabulous consistency. Love!!!

How could you have a really good pastel collection without a baby chicken yellow?!?? Luckily for us, OPI included a great one here, OPI One Chic Chick. One Chic Chick is a super pale lemon custard creme. Reminds me of when I make Alfredo sauce and start mixing the butter and cream! Yum (still hungry!)!

This is two coats again and same lovely formula as This Cost Me a Mint. I am so glad that my two favorite colors in this collection have great formulas! It will make me reach for them more this spring.

OPI Stop I'm Blushing is a very pale pink with hints of peach. It almost has some yellow-y tones to it, kind of like cream with a hint of pink.

This is three thin coats of Stop I'm Blushing. I thought it was a bit less opaque than the last two, so I did want a third coat. It wasn't really streaky, but it did seem a little thicker and came out a bit lumpy looking.

Another hit from this collection, OPI It's a Boy! is a perfect pale baby blue. It's pastel and soft, but still has a good hit of that nice clear sky blue. In my mind, this looked similar to OPI What's with the Cattitude? (which I do not own), but a quick Google for swatches of that indicates that this is much lighter with more white in the base.

This is two coats. The formula is good, but I think I can see a stray streak on my pinky nail. It's pretty opaque though and the consistency was very nice.

Overall, I think OPI did a nice job with these. The formulas range from "excellent for any polish" to "good for a pastel". My favorites are This Cost Me a Mint and One Chic Chick, with It's a Boy! in a solid 3rd place.

The OPI SoftShades 2016 Pastels collection is available now at Ulta, ulta.com, and other fine salons.

Two New OPI Collections for Spring- SoftShades and Infinite Shine!

From Runways with Love:
EIGHT NEW SPRING INFINITE SHINE SHADES FROM OPI
There’s so much to love about spring. Flirtier frocks. Shorter sleeves. And the wardrobe refresh extends to nails and toes thanks to eight chic new OPI Infinite Shine shades.
OPI Infinite Shine No Light Gel-Lacquer is a professional 3-step system offering the high-shine and long-wear of a gel manicure with the ease of application and removal of nail polish. Prepare to shine on (and on) in spring’s most sophisticated hues, with up to 10 days of wear and gel-like shine.
“This collection takes its color cues from the spring runways. Look for baby pinks, heartwarming corals, blooming berry, lush green, shower-cloud gray, and un-bashful nude, all rendered in crème formulas,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder and Creative Director. Infinite Shine now boasts a choice of 70 colors in total.
Infinite Shine features a simple three-step system; first, apply Infinite Shine Primer (Step 1), which goes beyond the capabilities of a standard base coat to prime nails for a revolutionary grip on color, while also preventing staining. Next, select your gel-lacquer shade (Step 2) and paint two thin, even coats for richly-pigmented, vivid color. Finish with Infinite Shine Gloss (Step 3), a state-of-the-art gel polymer top coat that cures in natural light. Product is easily removed with standard nail lacquer remover; no soaking is required.

Pastel Power

OPI SOFTSHADES 2016
April showers bring May flowers...and Pastels, six freshly minted OPI SoftShades.

Softly shaded, seriously opaque and knockout gorgeous, these pastels are unmistakably there. Pale lilac, yellow and green redefine cool, while creamy white makes an indelible impression. Baby peach and blue have never looked more grown up. All are demure with a bit of an edge, and über chic.
“Inspired by the spring 2016 runways, we offer a fashion-forward interpretation of the pastel palette,” saidSuziWeiss-Fischmann,OPICo-FounderandBrandAmbassador. “Insteadoftheexpectedsheer and muted look, we’ve chosen a finish that adds a ‘mod’ element to our shades without diminishing their refinement.”
This is a color story we absolutely love,” adds Weiss-Fischmann. “Our pastels play well together, and create a myriad of sophisticated, feminine looks from accent nails to French tips and nail art. Plus, they bring plenty of modern romance to bridal, prom and other spring/summer occasions.”
OPI SoftShades 2016 Pastels include the following shades in both nail lacquer and GelColor formulas:

I’m storing this creamy white in memory forever.

OPI Infinite Shine SoftShades Swatches and Review!!

*Sent for review*

The OPI Infinite Shine SoftShades actually came out in the spring, but the press samples seem to have been delayed a bit. These pretty pale shades are very spring-y feeling, but they are going to be very useful shades year round as well! OPI Pearl of Wisdom is a shimmering white. OPI calls it a "mother-of-pearl" shade. The light silvery shimmer in the soft white is very pretty!

This is three coats of Pearl of Wisdom and I did still have some streaks. It definitely helps to let it dry all the way in between coats though. It has some VNL still, but it is a softer shade, so that doesn't bother me. I used one coat of the OPI Infinite Shine Gloss top coat over this and the other five polishes in this post.

OPI Eternally Turquoise is a gorgeous pale sea glass blue-green. It's a nice delicate turquoise and even though it's opaque, it's so shiny it almost feels squishy and jelly-like.

This is two coats of Eternally Turquoise and it's nicely pigmented. It was very easy to apply and the formula has that nice gel feel.

This pretty silver gray is OPI Go to Grayt Lengths. The shimmer in this is very cool, it's almost like a slightly darker silver shimmer in a light silver polish. It's not a super flashy or reflective shimmer either, more of a grown-up and refined glow. Just as a quick note- I did these swatches over about a 2 week period, so I do apologize for lighting and nail length inconsistencies. I typically do swatches all on the same day, but there are so many collections out right now, I am trying to squeeze more in!

This is two easy coats of Go to Grayt Lengths. It applied like a dream and was perfectly opaque. I know I'll wear this one a lot!

OPI Beyond the Pale Pink is a slightly pink-beige leaning off-white creme. OPI calls it a "scandalously nude, barely there pale pink". It's kind of like you mixed a drop of beige and a drop of pale pink into a white polish. If you like the idea of a white polish, but think it looks too stark, this one is perfect for you, not stark at all!

This was three thin coats. I let each coat dry completely in between layers and it was nice and even! I didn't have trouble with streaks and it was nicely opaque. I was pretty impressed with this one!

OPI Non-Stop White is the true, stark white creme of this collection. It's a very bold white creme. If you compare it to Beyond the Pale Pink, you can really see how much brighter of a white this is, perfect for summer!

The fantastic news about Non-Stop White is that this could be a one coater if you are super careful! I managed to do one coat on my pointer finger and it's even and opaque! I must have gotten overexcited though, because the other nails needed two coats. If you have great application skills though, this possibly is the one coat white you've been searching for. Great formula!

OPI The Beige of Reason is a sheer light beige. It adds a nice shine and healthy glow to nails. I'm never a fan of sheers, but if I had to pick one to wear tomorrow, it'd be this one.

This is two easy easy coats of The Beige of Reason. It was nice and even, with no streaks in sight. I am impressed, as I typically find sheers to be a pain to work with.

If you're looking for some nice soft, cozy shades, definitely check out this collection. Non-Stop White is my new favorite white creme for sure, and I also really love Eternally Turquoise and Go to Grayt Lengths!

OPI SoftShades 2015 Swatches Part 2!

*Sent for review*

Alright lovelies, I have the three remaining OPI SoftShades lacquers for you today. I have to type one-handed, so commentary will be light. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have! First up is OPI Chiffon My Mind, a beautiful soft white shimmer. The shimmer in this is a really pretty iridescent blue-pink that was hard to capture in pictures. The shimmer sets this apart from other white polishes I own.

This is three coats of Chiffon My Mind and I am happy with the opacity. It's a teeny bit streaky, but not bad at all for a white polish.

OPI Put It In Neutral is a pink-toned beige jelly. It's definitely a neutral, nude pink, not a candy pink.

This is three coats. Being a jelly, there is still some VNL, but I think that is to be expected. The coverage is nice and even, no streaks. I think I got some of my nail oil on it, so excuse the cloudy looking spots.

OPI Petal Soft is a mix of soft pink and white glitters in a clear base. The stars of the show here are the large white flower glitters, very cute!

This is one dabbed coat of Petal Soft. It was pretty easy to apply, but I did have to fish for the flower glitters, they tend to sink toward the bottom.
