Zoya Calm Spring 2020 Swatches & Review!

*Sent for review*

Zoya couldn't have picked a better name for their Spring 2020 collection. I'd say the entire world could use more than a little bit of Calm right now. If binging Tiger King isn't helping you stay calm, check out these polishes in various soothing spring colors. Let's start off with Zoya Colleen, a beautiful warm peachy pink creme. I have been hunting for a polish just like this that isn't sheer and I'm pleased to say this hits the spot! Colleen is a completely opaque pale peach that doesn't look chalky, just creamy. This is a perfect spring polish alone or with some beautiful floral nail art added on top.

I did three thin coats of Colleen, but two medium coats would also be full coverage, depending on your polishing style. It's nice and smooth with no streaks and was easy to apply. All swatches in this post are shown with one layer of glossy top coat.

You already know that Zoya Emerson is my favorite of the collection. Blue polish forever 💙. This pastel blue creme has hints of periwinkle and maybe even a tinge of gray too, making it more complex than a standard baby blue creme. I own three Helmer drawers full of blue polish and I can't find one exactly like this and I'm loving it! It's pale but also bright if that makes sense. An instant spring classic.

This was two coats of Emerson. Even though I would typically do a third coat out of habit, I finished the second coat and there was no need for a third. Lovely formula, fully opaque and nary a streak in sight, despite being a pastel creme.

Zoya Leif is a lovely light green creme with some slate gray tones. It comes across as more neutral than a mint green creme would be and more wearable I think for many people. This was the base color for my St. Patrick's Day mani. This is a very soothing color for me and I think I'll be wearing this again sometime soon.

I did three thin coats of Leif. It's very opaque, not a hint of sheerness or patchiness. The formula is lovely and easy to apply.

Zoya AJ is a really interesting color. It's a pale blush base with copper shimmer flecks. It has a great sheen to it and up close you can really see the copper flecks sparkling. I really like the contrast between the smooth pink base color and the gleaming bits of golden coppery sparkle.

This was two coats of AJ. Excellent formula. Colors like this tend to have very visible brushstrokes and I mostly managed to avoid having them here!

Zoya Laura is described as a "soft, pink-toned ivory cream". I see a lot of the ivory tones on myself and a bit less of the pink, although they are definitely there. This could be a really stunning neutral polish for someone, just not sure it's the best on my skin tone. If you've been looking for a more yellow toned neutral with a slight hint of pink, Laura's your girl.

Three thin coats and so smooth! Zoya has really perfected the art of having very opaque pale/pastel cremes that aren't streaky and uneven. Many brands still struggle with this, so hats off to you Zoya.

Zoya Vee is a very pretty muted purple creme. This is a sophisticated work-friendly purple, not a flashy, loud purple. It feels like a classic neutral, but the dusty warm lilac shade is more interesting and feels fresh for spring.

This was two easy coats and great formula. Vee was very opaque, so if you do thick coats, you may have a one-coater on your hands.

As an aside, the box this collection came in is SO pretty! I love the white and the bottles dripping with polish! I also LOVE that Zoya personalized it with my Instagram name! Thanks Zoya, I feel so special!

My top favorites from this collection are Emerson and Leif, but I really enjoyed the whole collection. Very wearable, pretty spring colors and easy to apply formulas all around!

Gorgeous Cosmos Ayurda Collection Swatches!

*Sent for review*

Hi all! Today I have some lovely polishes from a new to me indie brand called Gorgeous Cosmos. Gorgeous Cosmos is based in India and their polishes are all 5-free! I have six polishes from the Ayurda collection, a group of highly pigmented cremes. The Ayurda collection contains "a special blend of the following herbs and oils: Argan oil Jojoba oil Almond oil Olive oil Tamanu oil Sesame oil Rosemary extract Bhringaraaja (Eclipta prostrata) extract Brahmi (Centella asiatica) extract Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) extract". Sounds great for nail health! My absolute favorite of the six I received is the Teal Ayurda, it is the most perfect shade of teal, like gentle tropical waters. It's a really unique shade of teal, one that I've actually been looking for for a long time. I find that most polishes this shade are not pigmented enough for what I'm looking for, but no worries with that here.

All of the polishes in this collection are highly pigmented. Most could be done with one careful coat. I did use two coats in my swatches, simply because I can't help myself from applying one more coat. But they are opaque in one coat for sure. I think the second coat just smoothed everything out and looked more lush. The formula on these is a little on the thicker side, but not problematic. All swatches have one layer of quick dry top coat on top.

Next up is Blue Ayurda, such an incredible shade of pure sky blue. If this shade of blue doesn't make you happy, you got issues 😉. It's a really stunning slightly deeper than Robin's Egg blue. It's such a saturated color too, it really pops without being chalky or neon.

This is two coats, but again, you could do one coat. These polishes are very pigmented!!

Peach Ayurda reminds me of the color of Peach Ring candies, not the yellow part, but the darker pinky color. Aaaaaaand now I want Peach Rings... This is a great pink creme with hints of peach, almost leaning into a pink coral territory.

This is two coats as well. This one wanted to flood my cuticles a little bit, so clean up might be needed. Very opaque and saturated with pigment.

Mauve Ayurda is a gorgeous light grape purple creme. You know I am a purple lover, so this one makes me swoon. This is a fantastic shade of purple and if your collection is lacking a shade like this, you need this for sure!

This one really did not need the second coat, it was perfectly pigmented, smooth and lovely in one coat. Love it!

Sunshine Ayurda is the color of the bright yellow sun. So cheery and perfect for summer! This is the perfect primary yellow and would be great as a base for nail art of some sort!

This is the only one in the collection that really could have used two coats. The second coat just evened it out, but that is pretty standard yellow polish behavior. It is very pigmented like the other colors and the formula is on the thicker side as well.

Last but not least is Pink Ayurda. This is the perfect Barbie fuchsia pink creme. A little bold, a little dash of purple to keep it interesting, just my type of pink. Reminds me of the Barbie Dream Car I wanted when I was four and never got...

Two coats again and lovely application on this one. Loving the bold pigmentation in these.

There is also a 7th color in the Ayurda collection that I didn't get, a very cool bright green. These colors are all so rich in pigment, I think they would be perfect for stamping and water marbling. Look out for a future post in which I test that theory!

Zoya Wanderlust Summer 2017 Swatches, Part 2!

*Sent for review*

I finally have the second half of the Zoya Wanderlust collection for you today! I took on a volunteer job related to my work and it really ate up any blogging time I had since the last post. But, better late than never and these beauties are worth waiting for! First up we have the absolutely gorgeous Zoya Sonja. Sonja is a bright juicy coral red creme. It has hints of pink and orange and just feels like the perfect summer color. It's on my nails right now!

This was two flawless coats of polish. I almost could have done this in one coat, but you know I like to do thin coats. The coverage was even and the formula was so smooth. Loving Zoya's creme formula lately! I used one layer of quick dry top coat on all swatches in this post.

Zoya Cora is described as a muted coral creme. It's a very orange leaning coral, but is a bit softer than it looks here in my pictures. It's more peachy pink toned than it looks here too. This is a lovely color for summer that pops nicely without being eye-searing. Cora was my grandmother's name and she loved nail polish. She would get her nails done every week until she was about 105 years old! Her favorite color to get was a nice soft coral, so I think she would like this polish.

Again, this is two easy coats with a lovely formula. Easy to apply, no fuss.

Zoya Arbor is an olive green creme. It's a cleaner olive green, not too brown or murky looking. I love a good army green and this is a great option if you're looking for one.

Two coats again, great easy to apply formula.

One of the three shimmers in this collection, Zoya Journey is described as a "shimmering strawberry red". This red shimmers glows with touches of orange and maybe a bit of pinky red.

This is two coats of Journey. In the pictures I feel like I can see some VNL, but in person it appeared totally opaque. The formula was good, maybe a little thinner feeling than the cremes, but it did not affect the ease of application.

Zoya Scout is described as a "shimmering moss green" but I think it's so much more unique and interesting than that. It's a light chartreuse green with yellow gold shimmer popping out of it . Scout is one of those weird greens that I absolutely love, almost radioactive looking. I think this is the most unique color in the collection. I have a large collection of weird greens and don't own anything like this.

This was pretty pigmented and two coats was nicely opaque. I thought the formula on this one was smooth and pretty close to perfection.

This yummy looking concoction is Zoya Sawyer. Sawyer is a soft orange creamsicle creme. I love this delicate peachy orange color, it's so gorgeous. It would look great with a tan if that's something you can get (unlike me 😉).

This is the only polish in this batch that needed three coats. The formula wasn't as great as the others. It had a tendency to pool in the cuticles and didn't seem to want to self-level. It's not a bad formula, just not as effortless as some in this collection.
