Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie 2.0

The original Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie is one of those legendary polishes that every lacquer lover worth their salt HAS to own. So when RBL announced Scrangie 2.0, I felt like I had to get it. Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie 2.0 is a glittering taupe shimmer that flashes rainbow shimmer in the sunlight. Indoors, however, it looks like a pretty standard taupe shimmer. The description on the RBL site says Scrangie wanted "a black oil slick with a multifaceted ring visible in low-light". Scrangie 2.0 isn't black and I don't really see a multifaceted ring in low-light. You can see the shimmer in low light for sure, but it's not really rainbow-y. But I do like this polish! If you have a ton of taupe shimmers, it may not be all that unique.

Scrangie 2.0 was totally opaque in just two easy coats and the formula was great, not too thick or too thin. It was one of the easiest RBLs to work with in my experience. It's a really pretty edgy neutral that is perfect fall.

Scrangie 2.0 is currently available on rescuebeauty.com.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Turn It Around

 Purchased by me.

Yet another beauty that has been languishing in my untrieds dungeon drawer. I actually purchased Rescue Beauty Lounge Turn It Around during the pre-sale for the Emoting Me collection, but I've been saving it because it seems like a fall color to me. A moody shade of moss green, Turn It Around has really strong, beautiful pinky copper shimmer. Unlike a lot of RBLs, the shimmer in this one is NOT hidden! I'm really happy about this, because the shimmer is what makes this polish stand out in my collection. It's chunkier shimmer than RBLs usually have too, as you can see in the macro below.

I used three coats for these pictures. It might be a two coater, but my bottle has a totally weird brush and I was struggling to use it. It seriously looks like a dog chewed on the ends. As far as I could tell, the formula seemed good, but I hope my brush was just a one off bad one, because it made application very tough.

Turn It Around is still available at rescuebeauty.com. I can't decide if I want any polishes from the Blogger 2.0 collection. I kind of like NailsandNoms, you know I love orange. And I want Scrangie 2.0, but that's sold out. Did you get any Blogger 2.0 polishes?

 Purchased by me.

Crouching Polish, Hidden Shimmer

Base: One coat Zoya Get Even
Color: Rescue Beauty Lounge Poco a Poco
Top: Seche Vite
Application: Average (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

I love my Rescue Beauty Lounge polishes. But sometimes, I wish the "hidden shimmer" was not so hidden on the nail. Take Rescue Beauty Lounge Poco a Poco for example. In the bottle, in bright sunshine, and in pictures taken with flash, this unassuming pink has the most gorgeous red-magenta shimmer. But, 99% of the time that you're actually wearing the polish, the shimmer is nowhere to be found. Poco a Poco is a nice work-safe pink in most lighting conditions.

This is two coats of Poco a Poco, and I only rated it "average" for application because I had bubbling issues and difficulty applying this nice and smoothly. It's not my favorite RBL in terms of formula. I own it because I truly enjoy staring at it in the bottle, and every once in awhile I find a great lighting situation in which the shimmer really pops out!

Rescue Beauty Lounge Poco a Poco is available online at rescuebeauty.com.

I feel like my last couple of posts have been slightly boring.... I have some exciting stuff to swatch, I promise!! Some Halloween items too ;)

Rescue Beauty Lounge Jack

I've been hanging on to Rescue Beauty Lounge Jack since I received it from the pre-order for the GOMM collection. I've been really into wearing and swatching bright colors for summer, so Jack took a seat in my untrieds pile. RBL Jack does NOT belong in an untrieds pile!!! It is stunning!! Jack is a beautiful deep teal with the famous RBL hidden shimmer. I have been searching for a color like this for ages. It's the perfect mix of green and blue, not too much of either one. Plus, it's on the dark side, but never so dark that it looks black. Jack just looks rich and deep!

This is two coats. Two coats is all that is needed for full, smooth coverage. Application was nice and easy, no problems!

Quick question for you guys. I've been thinking about doing something like this for each post:
Base coat: Zoya Get Even
Color: Two coats Rescue Beauty Lounge Jack
Top coat: Seche Vite
Application: Good (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

I would put it under the first picture, before I start yammering on and on. That way, if you're in a hurry, you can find the relevant information easily. Do you like this idea? Let me know in the comments!! Also, I'll announce the winner of my China Glaze giveaway shortly!!

Rescue Beauty Lounge Jack is available now online at rescuebeauty.com

Rescue Beauty Lounge Santa Fe Road

By now, you must all know that I require every orange polish ever made. I have so many oranges, and still, I find a way to justify buying another one. Rescue Beauty Lounge Santa Fe Road is the first orange polish from RBL, so I definitely needed it for historical purposes. Santa Fe Road is from the new and gorgeous Georgia On My Mind collection.

Santa Fe Road is absolutely unique in my vast assortment of orange polishes. It's kind of peachy looking outside in sunlight and has beautiful green-ish iridescent shimmer running through it. Inside or in shade, it looks more light pumpkin colored (see below).

Indoors or out, this is one amazing polish. It's very different and has that smooth shimmer that Ji is famous for. This is two coats and the formula was good. It was a tad thicker than I had expected, but not at all difficult to work with. If anything, the thickness ensured it wouldn't pool into my cuticles.

Gah.... look at it!!I am 100% in love with Santa Fe Road. I hope RBL makes many more oranges in the future, because this one is excellent.

The Rescue Beauty Lounge Georgia On My Mind collection should be available to order sometime next week, probably toward the end of the week. Check out rescuebeauty.com to sign up for their email notifications.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Anne

Today's post features a gorgeous polish that has been sitting in my untrieds pile and I can't imagine why!!! This beautiful olive green with pink/gold shimmer is Rescue Beauty Lounge Anne. Anne is another Bring It Back Limited Edition shade. I'm trying to swatch all of my LE RBLs before they sell out. I hate to show you a stunning polish and then tell you it's no longer available!

The pink/gold shimmer in Anne shows up in bright sunlight or bright lights, but unfortunately it wasn't very sunny the day I took these pictures. You can see some of the pink and maybe a hint of gold on the left side in the macro shot below.

This is two coats and the formula was lovely. Nice and smooth! I can't wait to wear this in the fall. It seems a bit out of season at the moment, but I will definitely wear it a lot come September.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Anne is available now at rescuebeauty.com. It is limited edition though, so if you really want it, order it soon.

NOTD: Rescue Beauty Lounge Locavore

Today's polish is Rescue Beauty Lounge Locavore. Locavore made it into a Bring it Back vote awhile ago, and I snapped it up. It's sister, Look Rich Be Cheap, just sold out yesterday, so I wanted to show you this before it happens to sell out! Locavore is a pretty mix of green/gold, purple and blue glitter in a clear base. This is a full coverage glitter in just two coats. As with all full coverage glitters, it looks more sparse in these pictures than in person (love the macro setting, but hate the macro setting).

This is two coats and the application was very smooth. I really love this mix of colors too!

In person, you really can't see any VNL, so it looks super pretty and sparkly!

I'd suggest ordering Locavore sooner rather than later if you want it. It was brought back once, but I think once it sells out, it's gone forever.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Locavore is available now on rescuebeauty.com.

Speaking of Rescue Beauty Lounge, did you pre-order anything from the new Georgia On My Mind collection? I got Jack in the Pulpit and Santa Fe Road! Swatches when I get them!!

The Stuff of Legends: Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie

I'm sure you've seen this one only about a million times, but Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie is way too beautiful for me to not post these pictures. Scrangie, by the way, is my favorite nail blogger EVER. The fact that she dreamed up this incredible purple with green iridescence is just the icing on the cake.

This is three coats of Scrangie and it applied beautifully. There is a spot on my ring finger that looks thin in these pictures, but it is not at all visible to human eyes. Damn macro setting. Also, I took these on a super sunny day, Scrangie looks darker than this in most other lights. The sun was very good at capturing the green shimmer in this though!

This is the recent Scrangie, not the original, by the way. I got this during the Bring It Back pre-order a few months ago.

I've heard that the remaining quantities of Scrangie are dwindling, so if you don't own this yet, I suggest you order it really soon!! Ji brought it back once, but I'm sure it won't come back again, so this is your last shot to own this legendary polish.

Any fun plans for the day?? I am resting... my 10 year high school reunion (!!) was last night. My friends and I started out at our friend Heather's house, then went to the reunion, then back to Heather's for the night. I can't believe it's been 10 years! Also, don't forget to enter by Nicole by OPI giveaway!!

RBL Scrangie is available now at rescuebeauty.com.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Aqua Lily Needs an Armed Guard!

I delayed in posting this gorgeous polish, Rescue Beauty Lounge Aqua Lily, because of it's sold out status. However, Ji Baek has since announced that Aqua Lily will be in the next Bring It Back collection!!! Woo hooooo!! She probably decided to include this polish in the next Bring It Back collection because this is the kind of polish that people try to steal from you. When your friends and family (*ahem* Mom!) see this on your nails, they immediately want to "borrow" it. And you may never see it again!!

Aqua Lily is a unique turquoise polish with RBL's famous "hidden shimmer". The hidden shimmer is a stunning pinky purple color!! The shimmer wasn't hidden that often here, as you can see from the pictures. I could even see it in my boyfriend's not so brightly lit basement, so I'd say it's pretty nicely visible. I prefer visible shimmer, so this means that I LOVE THIS POLISH!! Turquoise plus pink shimmer? YES!!

This is three coats of Aqua Lily, but you could definitely do two if you weren't planning on photographing it with a macro lens! The formula was great and so easy to control! I will be needing a security guard for this polish to prevent my friends from walking off with it.

(with flash)

Rescue Beauty Lounge Aqua Lily should be available again later this year. Definitely sign up to be a V.I.P. and be notified of their pre-sales. Their polishes are very easy to obtain as long as you pre-sale them. Once the regular sale starts, all bets are off and things sell out fast! Have you seen the latest collection, by the way? It's based on Georgia O'Keeffe's art and I NEED Jack in the Pulpit!! Ji said she needs a new photographer to take the pictures that they use on the website before this collection can be sold... you know, Ji, my boyfriend is a professional photographer!! (do you think I'd get free samples if he took their pictures??? How about I make him work for polish?! LOL). i am only partially joking.

Sign up to be an RBL V.I.P. to find out when Aqua Lily will be sold again!

Rescue Beauty Lounge IKB:2012- ReBeLs Rejoice!!

I followed the whole process of the Rescue Beauty Lounge Fan Collection pretty intensely. When Ji announced her plans for a fan-created collection, I even thought about entering an idea I've had floating around my head for awhile. But, I'm actually glad that I sat back and enjoyed the voting process, finding out who the winners were, etc. Altogether, it was a fun experience for Rescue Beauty Lounge lovers!! The collection was available for pre-order a few weeks ago, and I snapped up Rescue Beauty Lounge IKB:2012, as well as Aqua Lily.

IKB:2012 is a super bright, vibrant electric blue jelly. This polish was inspired by Yves Klein's signature International Klein Blue color. I think RBL did an excellent job of bringing this color to life. Check out these Google Images of "International Klein Blue". Perfect match.

I mentioned that this polish is super bright and I think it actually has some neon pigment in it. It dries sort of like a neon, not matte, but definitely not glossy. With one layer of top coat, however, it becomes super shiny and even more gorgeous.

I used three coats of IKB:2012 for these pictures. I think I did really need the third coat, as this polish is a jelly. It dries VERY quickly though, so it wasn't a hassle to do three coats. Overall, I am in LOVE with IKB:2012. I have heard people compare this with Orly Royal Navy, but I don't remember Royal Navy being this bright. I will have to find my bottle and compare the two for you.

Rescue Beauty Lounge IKB:2012 should be on sale at rescuebeauty.com sometime this coming week. I suggest to subscribe to their email list to stay informed.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Piu Mosso Renders Me Speechless

ahjfreuihfwenfgu!!!!!! Seriously, this polish leaves me without words. Rescue Beauty Lounge Piu Mosso is from the 2011 Pre-Fall Firebird collection. I pre-ordered this basically the minute you could pre-order. If you don't already know, if you sign up to be an RBL VIP, you get to pre-order the polishes before the rest of the public. I highly recommend this, as sometimes the best colors sell out quickly.

Piu Mosso is a gorgeous smokey blue with plenty of copper shimmer. The copper shimmer is what makes this polish a standout. It doesn't show up too much in low light, but in the sun it look AMAZING!!

I realize I probably took too many pictures, but look at this!!!! It's gorgeous! Even the smokey, cloudy blue base color is gorgeous, but then you add the copper shimmer and WOW!

Application was nice and easy, no problems to report. This is two coats and it's just perfect at two coats.

If you only have money for one Rescue Beauty Lounge polish this fall (like me!), I suggest Piu Mosso!! Poco a Poco and Pizzicato were very tempting for me too, but I am having some costly car troubles! Piu Mosso is still available on Rescue Beauty Lounge's website, but act fast, because I'm sure it will sell out!

A Slimy Sandwich

OK, before you even say anything, I know have some 'splaining to do about this sandwich. Here's a little back story for ya. Rescue Beauty Lounge Recycle was sitting in my untrieds *gasp* and lookin pretty. Having never used it before, I somehow thought it might work for a jelly sandwich. I know it isn't a jelly, but you can sandwich with a light coat of a creme as well. So, I settled on sandwiching OPI Servin' Up Sparkle in between layers of RBL Recycle.

So I'm applying Recycle, and I can CLEARLY see that it is very opaque. Clearly! But what do I do? I proceed to try to sandwich anyway. FAIL. So then, too lazy to remove my mess, I applied another layer of Servin' Up Sparkle on top of the failed sandwich. Silver glitter on green looks like Christmas though, I couldn't have that. Again, instead of removing, I applied a coat of China Glaze Kiwi Coolada! So this is: base coat, one coat RBL Recycle, two coats OPI Servin' Up Sparkle, one coat RBL Recycle, one coat OPI Servin' Up Sparkle, and one coat China Glaze Kiwi Coolada. That's 7 coats of crazy.

So, I think a good idea would be: base coat, one coat Rescue Beauty Lounge Recycle, two coats Servin' Up Sparkle, one coat China Glaze Kiwi Coolada. It would look like this, just not the bumpy mess part of this. And without the gashes in it, where it obviously took 9 hours to dry and I proceeded about my life pretending that all 7 coats were dry.

Cool concept, not good execution LOL. I'll try it again eventually, without the extra coats in between.

OPI Servin' Up Sparkle was sent to me by a PR agent for OPI. For more information, please see my Disclosure Policy.
