My Top 10 Mainstream Brand Polishes of 2013!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a great time ringing in 2014 last night. I know my Top 10 is a day late, but I just decided to do this yesterday. I normally don't do these Top whatever lists because I have a really hard time choosing my favorites. However, when I looked back through my posts this year, I did find some real stand outs. These are 10 polishes that I wore over and over again this year. Although there were many others that I fell in love with in 2013, these 10 are the ones that I actually wore more than once and will wear many more times in the future (and in one case, I even bought a back-up bottle!). These are my own personal favorites (no need to agree with me!) and I do realize that more than half of this list are texture polishes. I wore textures probably 60% of the time this year, so that is why there are so many textures on this list!

Zoya Carter was the first polish that popped into my head when I sat down to make this list. It still makes me drool looking at that picture!

Immediately after I thought of Carter, Zoya Liberty popped into my mind! Still a STUNNING polish, with or without topcoat.

I'd be remiss if I didn't include OPI Alactraz Rocks! This was a go to for me, but also really popular even with texture haters!

I went through a phase this summer when OPI Can't Find My Czechbook was constantly either on my toes or my nails in some form. It is the epitome of cheery spring/summer blue.

OPI Jinx (shown here with top coat) was another favorite. I love being able to slap this on with no base or top coat and have a gorgeous mani in minutes. Lazy girl win!

Zoya Giovanna is my favorite green of the year. It's the most perfect emerald shimmer I've ever seen! It is definitely a stainer, so double/triple up on base coat, but man it is worth it!

This is kind of unexpected, but OPI Honey Ryder was my most worn polish of 2013. Every single time I had someplace to go with almost no time to get ready, I slapped one coat of Honey Ryder on, sometimes even in the car (with someone else driving, of course)! I used this so often, I actually bought a back up bottle! I am a huge fan of gold, and this really is a great fast-drying gold.

Color Club Cosmic Fate might be my second most worn polish of 2013. Cosmic Fate is an incredible blush nude holo. It reminds me, I want to order a couple more Color Club holos! I don't know if this technically came out in 2013 or late 2012, but I wore the crap out of it in 2013.

Ahhhh, the lovely SinfulColors Leather Loose, matte chocolate brown goodness with golden flecks. I hunted for this polish in I believe 6 drugstores and it was so worth all the effort! I am really glad mattes are coming back, I have always loved them.

And finally, Nicole by OPI Cinna-man of My Dreams. I think this polish really convinced me that textures were awesome. It has so much dimension, and so many different colors within it. I could stare at it for hours!

I can't wait to see what 2014 brings. I hope it's an amazing nail polish year!

Happy Thanksgiving!! (A day late)

I know I'm a day late with this, but I couldn't let the holiday pass without me saying Happy Thanksgiving to all of my US readers! I am so thankful for everyone who reads this blog. When I started Never Enough Nails, I honestly did not think I would get this far, so thanks for all the support! Happy Hanukkah to my readers celebrating that special holiday as well.

And I can't resist sharing my Thanksgiving mani, Lynnderella Aunt Amy's Sweet Potato Pie over Sally Hansen Cocoa-a-Go Go.

Happy Halloween!!

*some products sent for review, please see end of post*

Happy Halloween!!! Halloween is my favorite holiday, I absolutely love everything about it. I usually wear Halloween manis for the entire month of October, but with my dad being in the hospital I got so off track this year. I'll be wearing Halloween polish well into November, haha. But I have a few recent Halloween manis for you, starting with Lumina Lacquer Peculiar Pumpkin Posse. This is an all holo glitter topper of holo orange and black hexes, black holo dots, holo black diamonds, and orange and black holo pumpkins. Everything in this polish is holo!! It also comes with an extra bag of the orange and black pumpkins.

Like all Lumina Lacquers, Peculiar Pumpkin Posse is best applied by dabbing. This is one dabbed coat with a few places filled in a second time, over OPI A Roll in the Hague. I took the two pumpkins from the extra bag of pumpkins, rather than fishing them out of the polish itself. There are plenty of them in the extra bag, so I figured it was easier and faster. I love the way the orange pumpkin is glowing in the picture below.

Next up we have Lynnderella Bed of Nails. This is a unique mix of white glitter in various shapes and sizes (including skulls!), purple, green, black, pink, and orange glitters in a clear base. Orange, purple, green and black really scream Halloween for me, so this is perfect. And I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw skull glitter in a core Lynnderella polish, I had a huge freak out moment!

This is two dabbed coats of Bed of Nails over OPI Did It On 'Em and China Glaze Grape Pop. I had a little bit of trouble getting the glitter out at first, which is really unusual for a Lynn polish. I turned the bottle upside down for a few minutes and that definitely helped a lot.

Finally we have Lynnderella Devil in a Black Tie over a random black Color Club mini and Zoya Livingston. Devil in a Black Tie has black and red glitters in a crazy holo sparkled base. I couldn't capture the holo sparkle, but it was similar to the fine holo glitter in Lynnderella VamPink!. I guess I just didn't have the right light today.

This is one coat of Devil in a Black Tie. It was easy to apply, no fishing involved.

What are your plans for tonight? I will be dressing up, probably as a witch or something, and handing out candy while watching Hocus Pocus with Binx. I mean, it is Halloween, I have to hang out with my black cat!

Lynnderella polishes are available on Lynnderella.com. Lumina Lacquer Peculiar Pumpkin Posse is Limited Edition, but you might still be able to grab a bottle at the Lumina Lacquer Big Cartel store.

*OPI and Zoya polishes in this post were sent for review. All others were purchased by me*

SinfulColors Leather Loose

*Purchased by me*

I have definitely been feeling SinfulColors polishes lately. First the SinfulShines, now this SinfulColors Leather Loose from the Leather Luxe collection. Leather Loose is an interesting brown/burgundy matte with gold shimmer flecks. I love matte polishes and I'm really glad they seem to be making a comeback this fall. The golden shimmer in Leather Loose is really pretty, especially outdoors and in brighter lighting. Indoors and in low light, it's a bit more hidden than these pictures show.

This is three coats of Leather Loose. The formula was good, but probably not excellent. I had a little trouble because even though I kept wiping off the brush, but I would get a big lump of polish on the handle threatening to drop on to my nail. And if I wiped off the brush too much, it applied patchy. But after three coats, it looks pretty good and it was $1.99, so I'm still pleased. I am wearing this as a full mani, I just couldn't wait to wear it! I had to nub down last night, but this is a nice color for nubs so I'm not too sad.

 *Purchased by me*

I also browsed the Halloween aisle while I was at Walgreens looking for Leather Loose, and found this adorable glittery pumpkin! I had to buy it, it's just too cute!

SinfulColors Leather Loose is available now at Walgreens, but I believe it's limited edition, so get it while you can.

OPI Miss Universe 2013 Swatches

*Sent for review*

I may not care about the Miss Universe competition at all, but it seems I do quite enjoy the polishes OPI releases for the Miss Universe competition. Last year gave us the excellent Crown Me Already! and Swimsuit, Nailed It!, and while there are only 3 polishes this year, I really love them all. First up, we have OPI I'm Feeling Sashy, the perfect purple with a hint of taupe creme. This is definitely a purple, but it feels like it has some gray/taupe mixed in, so it's grungier looking than a regular purple creme. It reminded me of the same purple with a neutral kick feeling as OPI Parlez-vous OPI?, so I actually have a comparison shot later in the post.

I'm Feeling Sashy needed just two coats for full opacity and it had a great formula. No complaints!

Below you can see Sashy vs. Parlez-vous OPI. As you can see, Parlez-vous is a more cool toned purple with more gray in it, while Sashy is a bit warmer. They both have that dusty feeling though. Sashy is on the pointer and ring, Parlez on the middle and pinky.

This hunk of deep smoldering hotness is OPI Miss You-niverse. This was a tricky shade to photograph, it looks more purple in some lights and more blue in others. I still can't really tell you which it is, but it is a very deep, rich blurple creme. It's dark, but it never looks black, you can always tell it is a dark blurple. I think this is unique in my collection, as most of the blurples I own are either lighter or have shimmer. Miss You-niverse is a really nice fall shade alone, but I also see it being a fantastic base for glitters or flakies. Ooooh, this would be so good with flakies!!

Miss You-niverse was very pleasant to work with, no issues to report at all. This is two coats and I found the formula to be a very nice consistency.

While I love the two purple cremes, OPI This Gown Needs a Crown was always destined to be my favorite. For one thing, I love silvers. Silver is probably the color I reach for most in the winter. For another thing, this is a new "satin finish" that dries super fast and matte, and to keep the satin look, you don't wear a top coat. It actually kind of looks like a texture polish, but it feels totally smooth to the touch! I am a huge fan of mattes, satins, and all other fast drying polishes. As a nail blogger, I hate not having polish on, but in reality, I need something super fast.

I am excited about this new satin finish and I hope OPI releases some more satin polishes. This Gown Needs a Crown did need three coats for full opacity, but it dried so quickly that didn't matter to me very much. Otherwise, the formula was excellent and easy to apply.

This Gown Needs a Crown also comes with this cute little crown ring!

Overall, this collection is small but mighty. Out of three polishes, I love three polishes! Sometimes small, well thought-out collections are better than huge collections with four dupes of existing colors. Are you interested in any of these pretties?

MISS UNIVERSE nail lacquers will be available October 2013, at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each nail lacquer.

Happy Halloween Month! Lumina Lacquer Mick or Treat + Giveaway!!

Happy October everyone! It's Halloween month and I am so ready to start sporting some Halloween manis, so I thought I'd kick the month off with one of the BEST Halloween glitterbombs I have ever seen. Lumina Lacquer Mick or Treat not only has silver holo MICKEY glitter, but it also has orange and black pumpkin glitter!! Mix those with orange, red and black glitters, red stars and holo silver moons, and you have one amazing polish. If the amount of glitter in the polish isn't enough for you, Tatiana also includes a bag full of extra glitter and mine was chock full of Mickeys and pumpkins.

 *Purchased by me*

This is essentially one coat of Mick or Treat over black, but I did get the Mickey and the pumpkin from the bag, not from the bottle of polish. I saw a ton of Mickeys in the bottle, but I figured it was easier to take one from the bag instead of waiting for one to get on my brush. Lumina Lacquers always have a great formula. They are shockingly easy to apply, considering the amount of glitter they contain. Tatiana recommends the dabbing method for application (as do I), it really work better with glitter-heavy polish.

Lots of these glitters are holo, not just the Mickey! So pretty!

Now unfortunately, Mick or Treat is limited edition, and is currently on it's last restock. BUT, I have a bottle (complete with extra bag of glitter) for one lucky Never Enough Nails reader!!! Entries are only open to residents of the U.S. this time, but I will have a different international giveaway soon.
