Polish Con Wrap Up + What I Bought!!

Happy Monday!! Over the weekend I was lucky to attend Polish Con 2017 in Brooklyn and I have about a million pictures for you in case you couldn't be there! Polish Con took place at a pretty cool venue called the Grand Prospect Hall. It is a former concert hall/ballroom built in 1903 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. When you first walked in, there was a huge grand staircase (pictured above) leading up to the convention. I felt like Leo DiCaprio in Titanic gazing up the staircase at Rose, only I was gazing up towards polish nirvana!

The hall itself was gorgeous, with lots of cool details. It must have been THE place to go back in the day. I loved these cool balconies with intricate detailing (below).

Me cheesing with my Polish Con bag ^. The lighting was a bit dim in the room, which added to the ambiance, but made it hard sometimes to see the polish. Luckily, most makers had lights to help you see what you were buying, so I didn't find it to be that bad!

Dave from Octopus Party Nail Lacquer had this adorable octopus on his table! He is so nice and I was very happy to meet him in person finally! I did take a picture of him at his table, but it's super dark. I posted it on Instagram anyway if you'd like to see. The makers all had amazing looking displays on their tables, I took pictures of some of my favorites, but also missed some great ones!

And here I am, exhausted at the end of the con! That bag on my shoulder weighs about 2 tons and my mom had a bag as well! Overall, I thought the day was fabulous. Polish Con was very well organized and everyone was so friendly. The makers had lots of stock for the most part, so even though I only had general admission tickets, I was able to get nearly all of the Polish Con exclusives that I wanted. When GA people were first let in, it was a little crazy and hard to see things at tables, but it settled down a little later and there was still plenty of polish left for all!

This is everything that came home with me. I muled for two lovely ladies I have known for awhile, so not all of this is mine. Someone had to help me unpack all of this too!

Below you can see everything I picked up. I did not go with a specific budget. I don't know when I will be able to attend something like this again, so I just bought whatever I was drawn to and I don't think I overdid it. There are some new to me brands in here, so I'm so excited to try them and show you them here! Time to get swatching!

The next Polish Con will take place in September (I think they said the 23rd) at a venue near Navy Pier in Chicago. I would love to go again! Did you go to the con this weekend? Or are you planning to go to Chicago?

Mermaid Scales with Blue-Eyed Girl Mermaid Tails & Drunken Sails

 *Purchased by me*

In the hopes the someday warmth might come to my area, I did a sort of summer-y mermaid tail mani today!! Nail vinyls are my new obsession and these mermaid tail scale vinyls are from What's Up Nails. To start, I used two coats of OPI Amazon... Amazon. When that was completely dry, I peeled my vinyls of the sheet and pressed them down over my nails. I then dabbed on a good layer of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Mermaid Tails & Drunken Sails and peeled each vinyl off while the polish was still wet. Tadaaaaa- mermaid tail nails!!

Now, it's a travesty that there was no sun for me to really capture the true holo goodness of Mermaid Tails & Drunken Sails. This beauty was a Hella Holo Customs exclusive for February 2016, and it is a stunning green holo with tons of pink shimmer and other goodies. I tried to capture the holo effect a little below, but I really need sunshine to show you properly!! If you are not a member of HHC on Facebook, I really suggest you get yourself in there ASAP! I have not been disappointed with the polishes each month since I joined back in the fall. This month's (made by Dreamland Lacquer and Sayuri) are STUNNING, so try to join before those go on sale in a week or so. To join, just email hellaholocustomercare@gmail.com.

Have you tried nail vinyls yet? I find them to be pretty easy to use and lots of fun! They provide great nail art options for those of us who stink at stamping!!

Fun with Halloween Decals!

*Sally Hansen polish sent for review*

I somehow lose track of October every year. I always think I have all this time to do Halloween manis and decorate the house for Halloween, but then all of a sudden, it's October 22nd and I haven't done anything!! So I decided I HAD to do a Halloween mani today. I ordered these decals from Born Pretty Store last October but got them after Halloween, so I hadn't tried them yet. I used Sally Hansen Tribal Sun as my base, it's a perfect pumpkin orange!

I love these decals. I know some people aren't crazy about them, but I think they're fun for holidays and quick festive manis. I used a witch glitter and some small glitters from a loose mix Lynnderella sent out with the Halloween duo (post coming tomorrow!!) on my middle nail. The end result is cute and great to get me in the Halloween spirit!

These water decals are available at Born Pretty Store. I hopefully will have some more Halloween manis coming up!

Happy Independence Day!!

*Sent for review*

Happy 4th of July to all of my US readers! I am busy at the North American Irish Dance Championships, but I have a quick post with a great red.white and blue look featuring a newer Lynnderella LE, Groom TBD. Lynnderella describes this as a "translucent white with blue shimmer and assorted blue iridescent accents". The blue iridescent accents are randomly sized flakes scattered throughout. They make a really beautiful look, especially when you move your nails around!

This is three coats of Groom TBD. It was pretty easy to apply, make a little thicker than some Lynns. Sometimes the flakies hung off the edges of my nails, but I just pushed them back on and they were fine.

For July 4th, I added Lynnderella Ruby Red Ruby and Deep Blue Seeing. I love this look and it's perfect for fireworks and cookouts this weekend!

*Sent for review*

Check the Lynnderella eBay store or Lynnderella StorEnvy for Groom TBD. Ruby Red Ruby is a core and readily available and I think Deep Blue Seeing is still around too. For more information about Lynnderella, please check out lynnderella-lynnderella.blogspot.com. Also, like Love Lynnderella on Facebook for more pretty swatches!
