Happy New Year's Eve!!

 Base: one coat CND Stickey
Color: two coats China Glaze Glitter All The Way
Top: one coat NYC Grand Central Station
Application: good (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

Happy New Year's Eve everyone! I'm still debating what polish to wear tonight, but China Glaze Glitter All The Way is a possibility. Glitter All The Way is from China Glaze's holiday 2012 collection. It is a clear base packed with purple, green, red, and gold glitter. It seems really festive, without screaming "red and green Christmas polish!".

This is just two coats of Glitter All The Way and it is definitely full coverage. The base seemed a tad thick, so later in the life, this may need a bit of thinner. Nice opaque glitter though! I apologize for the not great pictures. I took these Saturday when before the snow and rain started and the sky was so overcast.

Do you have any exciting New Year's Eve plans? I'm usually pretty boring on NYE!!

China Glaze Glitter All The Way is available at a Sally Beauty near you.

One More Christmas NOTD with OMG Nail Strips!

There are a TON of fun things about being a blogger and one of them is getting to try new brands and products. OMG Nail Strips is a new website that sells nail polish stickers. They contacted me to see if I would be interested in reviewing some of their polish stickers, and I really had a hard time picking just one design to try. OMG Nail Strips has a HUGE selection of really cool and unique designs, ranging from fantastic animal prints to patriotic and holiday-themed stickers. Aside from the excellent designs, OMG Nail Strips are only $4.29, with free shipping on ALL orders, less than half the price of most other nail stickers!

I selected my design a few weeks ago, so I was in a Christmas nail mood. I selected these red foil stickers with white Christmas trees. These are SO cute! Foil nail stickers are sometimes much harder to apply than regular polish stickers, but they always look extra beautiful when they're done. OMG Nail Strips gave me some application tips to make the process easier, and I have a few to add to this list also.

1. Clean and manicure nails and cuticles prior to applying nail strips
2. Peel nail strips from the flat side of the strip, the rounded side
will be placed just above your cuticles.
(If you have shorter nails you may want to cut the nail strips to
length leaving about 3/4" hanging off the tip of your nail)
3. Place the round side of the nail strip at the base of your cuticle,
Applying pressure from the middle of the cuticle press around in one
direction and then the other.
4. Holding the nail strip at the cuticle base stretch the nail strip
over the tip of the nail while smoothing out any creases on the side
of the nail.
5. Using a cuticle pusher tuck the nail foil in along the cuticle base.
6. Hold your nail so it is facing up and with a thin nail file, filing
in a (downward only) direction remove the excess nail foil from the
tip and around the sides of your nail.
7. Now that your nail foil is applied use a hair dryer on high heat
and your finger to smooth out any remaining imperfections.
(for Nail Polish Stickers heat is not necessary)

I would also recommend warming the sticker up with the hair dryer BEFORE you apply it. I find it makes it lay more smoothly. I used nail clippers instead of scissors to clip the excess strip (before filing). I find scissors to be harder to control. The excess strip filed off pretty easily with these stickers, so that wasn't difficult at all. I did get a bump on my ring finger nail that I couldn't smooth out all the way, but other than that, they were pretty smooth. If you're noticing that the trees are too big to fit on my nails, I have to mention that there were two smaller sized strips. I messed up my application with those first two and had to toss them. The sizing would have been much better had I not messed up the first time! Also, other OMG Nail Strips have just overall patterns, so those of us with small nail beds might want to stick with those.

Overall, I like these strips a lot. Foil stickers are often very hard to use, and almost unwearable. I could actually apply these without too much trouble and I could (and did!) wear them for a few days. I think I'll be ordering some of OMG Nail Strips regular polish stickers to try. I would love to see how they compare to other more expensive brands. They certainly have more interesting designs than some pricey brands!

Born Pretty Store Christmas Water Decals!

How's this for adorable Christmas nails?? I love these water decals from Born Pretty Store, my go-to place for nail art supplies, so much! This one sheet of decals has a TON of different cute holiday designs. For this mani, I picked Santa in his sleigh, a snowman with a glittery hat, the cutest penguin ever, and a green sparkly stocking.

OMG this penguin... so adorable. I love penguins! The base color for this look is two coats of OPI The Spy Who Loved Me, my current favorite shimmery red. These water decals are super easy to use. You just cut out the decal you want and remove the plastic sheet. Then, dip the decal in some water to detach it from the paper backing. Apply the decal to your nail and apply your top coat of choice! Water decals are my favorite way to get cute nail art. I never seem to have enough time for stamping and all that jazz, so these are perfect for me.

This one sheet of decals has so many cute designs, I had to take pictures of some of the others for you. There are some Disney characters on the right here, along with another snowman and an ice skating girl. "Merry Christmass" is also spelled wrong here, but hey, Born Pretty Store is in Hong Kong! There are other decals on the sheet where it is spelled correctly, so no worries.

You will DEFINITELY be seeing a full mani with the cats in the lower left corner below. They ARE SO FREAKING CUTE!

Overall, these water decals are both adorable and exceedingly easy to use. If you're looking for Christmas Nail Art for Dummies, here it is. I'm a little sad I couldn't get this posted in time for you to order these for Christmas, but I just received them the other day. Definitely order them for next year though! Plus, the black kitties are not all Christmas kitties, so they're good for the whole year.

These water decals and many others are available online at Born Pretty Store. Don't forget to use the code "ERJ61" for 10% off your order!

Lynnderella Season's Glitterings

Base: one coat Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Color: two coats Zoya Holly, two coats Lynnderella Season's Glitterings
Top: one coat Gelous, one coat NYC Grand Central Station
Application: excellent (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

Lynnderella Season's Glitterings is a holiday polish of EPIC proportions. There's a ton of holo glitter of basically all shapes and sizes, as well as red, green, gold, purple, pink and silver glitter. I got some really cool glitter pieces in this mani, like a big gold star, silver holo diamonds, a silver holo heart, a holo rectangle (!), and mini silver stars. I am so in love with this polish, I may wear it again before Christmas over red or maybe gold!

Aside from all of the cool big shapes in this polish, the small holographic glitter in the base makes this polish really festive. I wanted to make it extra Christmas-y, so I layered it over Zoya Holly, my favorite Christmas green polish.

This is two coats of Season's Glitterings and it covered really well. It was super easy to get all of the different shapes onto the nail, I didn't even do any dabbing or placing the glitters. For such a glitter bomb, this really had an excellent formula.

The Lynnderella Season's Glitterings collection is available now on her eBay store!

China Glaze Pure Joy

Base: one coat Zoya Get Even
Color: three coats OPI Alpine Snow Matte, two-ish (explanation in post) coats China Glaze Pure Joy
Top: one coat NYC Grand Central Station
Application: excellent (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

I'll be spending a good part of today finally getting some of my Christmas decorations up, so I wanted to wear something festive. Plus, I have about a billion holiday polishes that I need to wear before Christmas. I decided to layer China Glaze Pure Joy, mostly small red glitter with some medium gold glitter in a clear base, over OPI Alpine Snow Matte for my decorating day NOTD. OPI Alpine Snow is my favorite white, and the matte version is my favorite for fast drying manis. This whole mani dried super fast, which is great when you have no time during the holidays!

Pure Joy applied really really well. This is basically one coat, but I went back and dabbed a little bit on maybe three nails to fill in a spot or two that looked sparse. Pure Joy could easily be worn alone in three coats. I think it would also look amazing over silver!  I am really happy with the two polishes I've tried from China Glaze's Holiday Joy collection. I have one more to try that I actually own now (Glitter All the Way), but I think I may pick up two more (Winter Holly and Cranberry Splash)!!

The China Glaze Holiday Joy collection is available now online at 8ty8beauty.com.

Lynnderella Gingerbread Hearts

Base: one coat CND Stickey
Color: two coats China Glaze Classic Camel, two coats Lynnderella Gingerbread Hearts
Top: one coat Gelous, one coat NYC Grand Central Station
Application: average (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

Hey hey new followers! Nice to see all of you here. I know you came for the Nicole by OPI Holiday collection giveaway, but I hope you end up staying for the swatches and reviews! Today's NOTD is Lynnderella Gingerbread Hearts over China Glaze Classic Camel. Gingerbread Hearts is from the new Season's Glitterings collection and a portion of the proceeds of the polish goes to Gingerbread House in Shreveport, LA. Gingerbread Hearts is a nice mix of different sized ginger colored glitter in a clear base, with a smattering of matte red, white, blue, pink and green glitter for pizazz. Of course, Gingerbread Hearts also has heart glitter!! I got two pink ones and a white one in this mani (one pink one is on my thumb nail).

This polish definitely required a little patience to apply. It needed to be dabbed, not wiped. The hearts did not really want to come out and play. I was just starting to think that I would not get any hearts in this mani when I suddenly found three. I just kept dipping the brush in and wiping it off until it finally came out with a heart on it! I think the end result is worth a bit of effort, but if you like really easy application, maybe skip this one.

I saw this over a gold foil just this morning and wish I had done that instead!! I'll have to do that soon and show you, because it looked amazing! Lynnderella Gingerbread Hearts is available on her eBay store.

Instead of real snow, I have China Glaze Glistening Snow

Base: one coat Zoya Get Even
Color: three coats China Glaze Glistening Snow
Top: one coat Seche Vite
Application: excellent (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

If you couldn't tell from the title, I am bitter that it has been warm here and not snowing. But, moving along, China Glaze always puts out one of the best holiday polish collection in my opinion. They usually stay within the traditional range of holiday colors, and they always have great glitters. Last year, I really loved the China Glaze Ulta exclusives (see them here and here), but I know a lot of people missed out on them. Fortunately, the 2012 Holiday Joy collection has some glitters very similar to the 2011 Ulta exclusives! Today I'm showing you China Glaze Glistening Snow, a sugary fine silver glitter with lots of holo sparkle.

Glistening Snow has the exact same texture as the 2011 Ulta exclusive polishes. This teeny tiny glitter is easy to apply, full coverage in 2-3 coats, and not too hard to remove! This is three coats, although I would probably wear two. I took the super blurry picture below to show you how much holo sparkle there really is in the sun or bright indoor light. My camera did not want to capture it in the first two pictures. I am so glad China Glaze made more of these sugary glitters, they are so amazing! I really love them for glitter gradients too.

If you missed out on Fireside Glow and Ultamate Holiday last year, it looks like Angel Wings and Champagne Kisses are similar. I don't intend to get Angel Wings, since I do think it is very close to Ultamate Holiday. Here is a post on The Polish Jinx's blog comparing Angel Wings and Ultamate Holiday. I may still get Champagne Kisses because it looks lighter and less coppery than Fireside Glow.

The China Glaze Holiday Joy collection is available now!

My first holiday mani of the season with Lynnderella Golden Rules!!

Base: one coat Zoya Get Even
Color: two coats Zoya Carrie Ann, two coats Lynnderella Golden Rules
Top: one coat Gelous, one coat NYC Grand Central Station
Application: good (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

I wanted to kick off December with a really Christmas-y feeling mani, and I remembered that I hadn't posted Lynnderella Golden Rules yet. After some careful considering of several red base colors, I settled on Zoya Carrie Ann, a bright sparkly red with maybe a hint of pink undertones. I know that traditional Christmas colors are red and green, but I much prefer red and gold, or just gold and silver. Most of my decorations have gold in them somewhere, so this combination really felt nice and festive to me!

Look at the holo glitter in the blurry shot below!! Amazing!!! I originally passed on Golden Rules in my first order from the Sweet Somethings collection because I thought it would be close to Lynnderella Change. It's not at all close though! Golden Rules has tons of holo glitter pieces, as well as stars, diamonds, and other cool shapes. Change has large copper pieces, along with green glitter too. As a gold glitter fan, I really needed both! This one kind of dabbed coat and one wiped coat of Golden Rules. It was fairly easy to work with, but I find the larger pieces (like that giant holo square on my ring finger) needed some placement.

My new Lynnderellas came on Monday, so I'm sure you'll see some of those soon! I have a few non-Lynnderella holiday polishes to show you first though!

Lynnderella polishes are available on her eBay store.

Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolor Holiday 2012, The Glitters!

Base: one coat Zoya Get Even
Color: two coats Nicole by OPI All Is Glam, All Is Bright
Top: one coat Gelous
Application: OMG SO EXCELLENT!!!! (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

*passes out from love of this polish* OK, so remember in my first post about the Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolor Holiday collection when I said I don't always keep the polishes I am sent for review? But I had decided to keep the first three polishes from this collection? Yea, well Nicole by OPI All Is Glam, All Is Bright stepped this up a notch, because not only am I keeping it, BUT I'M GOING TO BUY A BACK-UP OF IT!!! This clear base LOADED with super fine sugary silver and red glitter is now my number one favorite Nicole by OPI polish EVER and one of my favorite holiday 2012 polishes as well!

Now, if you weren't dying from the sparklies, let me tell you that this is only two coats and it is 100% opaque. In fact, if you were lazy/doing your mani while running out the door to a Christmas party (me all holiday season), you could do ONE COAT of this polish!!!! One thick coat was opaque with no VNL!! This was also the easiest glitter polish to apply! I'm not sure if you can tell, but I LOVE THIS and highly recommend it to you.

Base: one coat Zoya Get Even
Color: three coats Kardashing Through The Snow
Top: one coat Gelous, one coat Seche Vite
Application: good (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

Nicole by OPI Kardashing Through The Snow is a lovely multi-glitter in a clear base. These glitters are small, but larger than the sugary glitter in All Is Glam. I see lots of red, gold, blue, silver and green glitters in Kardashing Through The Snow. (By the way, every time I read that name, I sing it *kardashing through the snoowwww*.) This polish would make a lovely topper over another polish, but it's easy enough to wear alone in three coats as well.

This was three coats and it looked quite opaque in person, with no VNL. My camera always likes to make these kinds of glitters look sparse, but it really wasn't. I'd wear this alone or maybe over white/silver. It was pretty easy to apply, just not as effortless as All Is Glam.

Base: one coat Zoya Get Even
Color: two coats Nicole by OPI Here We Kome A-Karoling, one coat Nicole by OPI A Gold Winter's Night
Top: one coat Seche Vite
Application: excellent (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

Stop the presses!!! I found a bar glitter polish that I don't hate!!!! To be honest, I didn't realize Nicole by OPI A Gold Winter's Night was a bar glitter until I went to swatch it for these pictures. When I realized it was gold and holo bar glitter in a clear base, I was a little sad because I thought I'd hate it. I also thought it would need to be layered over something, so I grabbed Here We Kome A-Karoling to put under it. HOWEVER, I actually like this!!! I think I like it because the base also has a ton of small gold glitter, so the bars do not show up as much. The base is also super packed with glitter, so you have to be really up close to even see that it has bar glitter.

This is just one coat of A Gold Winter's Night over two coats of Here We Kome A-Karoling. You absolutely could wear A Gold Winter's Night alone in two, maybe three, coats. It is really packed with glitter. The blue-green holo bars pop really nicely against the gold too. I am surprised at myself, but I am keeping this polish and I am actually going to wear it this holiday season!!

Overall, I really enjoyed swatching this holiday collection and I'm happy to be adding all six of these polishes to my permanent collection. The shimmers may seem like you've seen them before, but they have some unique qualities and great formulas too. The glitters are amazing. A Gold Winter's Night is a must for any bar glitter fans and All Is Glam, All Is Bright is a must for every human being who likes nail polish.
