Another Shatter NOTD- Tell Me if You're Sick of These!!!

Seriously, you need to tell me if you're getting tired of Shatter looks, because I just can't stop!!! I guess if you're going to be addicted to something, Shatter is probably a pretty OK addiction. It's not really bad for your health or safety in any way. Today I'm sporting OPI White Shatter over Zoya Dannii from the Spring 2011 Intimate collection (an amazing collection, I'm still not over it's greatness).

my favorite nail

I always end up with a favorite nail when I use shatter/crackle polish. Am I the only one, or does that happen to you too? Anyway, my middle nail on my left hand was my favorite this time. I love that giant crack down the middle and the cool zig-zaggy one near the cuticle end of the nail. Shattering just provides me with endless excitement. I have a never-ending collection of shatter and nail color combinations in my head right now. I'm enjoying this combo too much to take it off though. But next I think I'd like to try OPI Silver Shatter and Zoya Gemma from the Intimate collection. Wouldn't that be cool? Or OPI Red Shatter and Zoya Tanzy from the Summer 2011 collection!! Any Shatter combos that you would like to see? Let me know, I take requests!

OPI White Shatter and Zoya Dannii were both sent to me for review by PR agents of OPI and Zoya. For more information, please see my Disclosure Policy.

NOTD: Sinful Colors and OPI combo!

I'm sure you were all really worried about me, but I'm alive, the Rapture did not come to get me LOL! Just a thought, don't you think it would have been scarier if they had called it The Raptor instead? Like scary dinosaurs from Jurassic Park???

OK enough about crazy people, let's get on to the nail polish. This week I wore a great combination that EK suggested to me. For you newer followers, this blog was actually started by two people, myself (Erin C) and my friend Erin K. EK really has no time to blog though, so I am doing all of the posting myself now. But, she did lend me Sinful Colors Let Me Go this week and suggest that I try it over OPI Alpine Snow.

Sinful Colors is a great duochrome-y purple with a green flash in the bottle that appears blue in this mani. It looks like it would be super sheer, so I would really suggest layering it. But for $1.99, I think this would look amazing over black, blue, purple, pink, and green polishes. This is two coats of Let Me Go over two coats of OPI Alpine Snow Matte. EK used regular Alpine Snow, but to save drying time I went with the Matte version.

I smudged my middle nail there in the process of taking pictures. I am always so impatient that I never wait for my nails to dry before grabbing the camera! I tried to take pictures at all different angles to show how the color changes when you move your nails. Let Me Go is really an interesting layering polish. I'd like to try it over a lot of colors. Interesting, apparently it turns green over black polish! Look at this post from Wacky Laki, whose blog I just found when I searched "Sinful Colors Let Me Go". (I had to search because I couldn't remember if that was the proper name of the polish or not and I've already returned it to EK.)

As you can see, this polish can change the look of any other polish you own. So for $1.99, you can create a TON of new looks! Check it out next time you're at the drugstore!

Sinful Colors polishes are available at a drugstore near you or online at Sinful Colors.

NOTD and Giveaway Winners!!!

So I wore this gorgeous combo the other day and wanted to share! Zoya Breezi with Nubar 2010!! I took these pictures indoors, at night, so sorry about the not so nice quality. We've been having rally gross cloudy and rainy weather, so I really have not been able to take good pictures for a few days.

This is way prettier in person!!!

I also wanted to announce the giveaway winners, as I've heard back from both of them now. The Julep Giveaway winner is Chris from Lacquerware for Tips and Toes! The Apothica gift card winner is Wendy from Giveaway Gathering! Congrats ladies!
I do have another giveaway, hosted by me this time, coming up very soon. Probably starting Monday of next week! So stay tuned!

Better Late Than Never- Milani Purple Gleam

Remember awhile back I gave away some of the Milani One Coat Glitters, but I didn't have any for myself? Well, I finally found Purple Gleam to keep for my own collection. Purple Gleam is a dense full coverage glitter polish with bits of black glitter mixed into grape purple glitter.

(blurry pic with flash to show glittery goodness)

Under no circumstances would this polish be a one coater. I did three thin coats for these pictures. You could definitely do two thicker coats to achieve this level of opacity, but unfortunately, one will not cut it. I don't mind having to do two or three coats, I have to do them with most polishes. It kind of annoys me that they actually went and named them "One Coat Glitters". Like... they're very pretty, you didn't need to lie in the name!

My other problem with this polish is that it just devoured my top coat. This is TWO coats of CND Super Shiney Top Coat. Usually Super Shiney is... well, super shiny! But this polish just seemed like it would never be shiny. I think I would wear Seche Vite with this next time. A thicker top coat would probably do a better job.

Overall, I love the color of this polish and that it is a full-coverage glitter. You know I love a glitter, and purple is one of my favorite colors! I just wish they hadn't called these "One Coat Glitters", it kind of sets you up for at least a little disappointment.

You can buy Milani Purple Gleam online at Milani, or in a drugstore near you (if you can find it!).

Fun Holo and Crackle Look!

I don't have time for a super long post today, but I REALLY wanted to show you this look I wore this weekend. I really loved it and it was fun to look at. I wore an old OPI Designer Series polish called Divine. Then, on my ring finger I did an accent nail of Divine under China Glaze Black Mesh!

You know I love my Crackle polish, and for some reason, I felt the crackle actually stood out more when it was just the one nail. It made me really notice it, whereas sometimes when I have crackle on all of my nails it seem like it just blends together. Using Black Mesh for an accent nail is a really graphic, bold look. I loved wearing it and I got a ton of compliments on this mani.

OPI DS Divine is an old black label OPI. I do not believe it is available anywhere now, but a good substitute would be Nubar Prize. They are very similar (as you can see if you go check out that post). I hadn't used Divine in awhile and TOTALLY forgot how badly non 3-free polishes SMELL! I've become spoiled with all of the 3-Free polishes. I completely forgot how polish used to smell. It practically made my eyes water. However, I really love this color, so there's no chance I'm getting rid of it LOL.

What are you currently wearing on your nails? New Spring 2011 stuff? Or are you sporting some oldies?

NOTD: Nubar 2010 over Zoya Kelly

Two coats Nubar 2010 over two coats Zoya Kelly, no flash

Just a quick post today to show you the cool combination I've been wearing for the last day or two- Nubar 2010 over Zoya Kelly. Zoya Kelly is from Zoya's fall collection, see it alone here. I know you've already seen Nubar 2010/Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure a hundred times, but I really like it over this dark gray creme. This is two coats of Zoya Kelly and two of Nubar 2010. Under Nubar 2010, one coat of Kelly really would suffice, it's quite opaque.

Nubar 2010 over Zoya Kelly, no flash

Nubar 2010 over Zoya Kelly, no flash

I should have the new Sinful Colors polishes up tomorrow evening. I hear it's only going to be partly cloudy tomorrow, so I can finally get good pictures! Any fun plans for the weekend? I'm going to Ulta today to nab OPI Black Shatter. I'm so excited for it! I love any excuse to go to Ulta, and I'm really looking forward to putting Black Shatter over every polish I own!

Zoya Kelly is available online at Zoya. Nubar 2010 is available online at Nubar.

Costume Party Nail Art Look!!

If you couldn't tell, I'm preparing for another huge dance competition. I apologize for the complete lack of posts. I really have been basically dancing and sleeping. My nails have been bare more often recently than they have been in the past two years.

I didn't want to do the typical black nail with the nail art spider web, so I do have a twist on that nail look for you today that is definitely not work/everyday appropriate. This is a Halloween costume party look! I am definitely rocking this Halloween night. It would go perfectly with a witch, vampire, or maybe a mummy costume. All you need is one polish color and a bag of those fake spider webs.

For this crazy spider web look, I did two coats of Color Club Dark Romance (a black creme from last year's Halloween set). After that dried, I applied a thick coat of top coat. While the top coat was still wet, I placed the spider webs on the nail. After the top coat dried, I trimmed the webs to my desired length. This would look cool with white polish or blood-red polish too!

For another version of this look, I think it would be cool if you attached the spider webs to your nails, but then brought them back over your hand and attached them to your wrist with some false eyelash glue. This would be the perfect nail look for a witch costume.

So tell me- what are you being for Halloween???

Nail of the Day: China Glaze Medallion

China Glaze Medallion, with flash

Wow... I have been so busy that I have completely been neglecting this blog! Blahhh!!! Sadly, I don't even have time for a super long post today. But I promise, I have a really cool idea for a Halloween mani that will be posted Saturday night, so don't leave me!

China Glaze Medallion, no flash

Today I have some new pictures of a polish that has been discussed here on Never Enough Nails multiple times. But I thought it needed better pictures, so here's two coats of China Glaze Medallion! It looks best with three coats, but really I just didn't have the time today.

China Glaze Medallion, no flash

Honestly that China Glaze 50 Specialty Colors glitter collection was ahead of the trend. It's a great collection and still fits right in with nail trends now. Check it out on 8ty8 Beauty.

Nail of the Day: Wet&Wild Sparked and Essie Demure Vixen

Wet and Wild Sparked over Essie Demure Vixen, with flash

I've found another $0.89 winner for you!! Wet and Wild Sparked is a seriously packed pink glitter. It only takes one coat of this baby to bling out your nails. Unlike many other glitters out there, you can wear this polish alone in just two coats! Below is a picture of Sparked all by itself.

Wet and Wild Sparked alone, one coat, no flash

I tried one coat of Wet and Wild Sparked over two coats of Essie Demure Vixen. I absolutely love the end result. It's been cloudy and rainy here for about a week, so I felt like I needed some glitter to brighten my day. This worked like a charm!

Wet and Wild Sparked over Essie Demure Vixen, no flash

Application on this was smooth and easy. The glitter went on so evenly with no patchy spots. I could hardly believe this was a glitter. Because I only had to use one coat over the Essie polish, removal wasn't that bad. Overall, for the 89 cents I paid for this, it is AWESOME! It would even be awesome at OPI's price point.

Like I said when I reviewed Wet and Wild Glitz, this company needs to make more glitters ASAP! They are seriously pros at making glitter polish!

Wet and Wild nail polishes are available at drugstores or online at Harmon.

Lazy Blue Ombre Mani

with flash

I call this a "lazy" ombre mani because I just did all different shades of blue shimmer polish on each nail, not a true ombre where the polish transitions from dark to light on each nail. But I think it still came out cool and I'm enjoying wearing it right now.

This mani is OPI Russian Navy on my thumb, Lancome Indigo Paris on my pointer, China Glaze Blue Paradise on my middle, China Glaze Frostbite on my ring finger, and Sally Hansen Salon Calypso Blue on my pinkie finger. OPI Ink is a good substitute for Lancome Indigo Paris. I think these manis work best when you keep all of the polishes in a similar finish (i.e. all cremes, or all shimmers/pearls like I did).

I also think that ombre manis are a cool way to move from wearing summer polishes to winter. Right now, I'm trying to hold onto the last bits of summer, so I'm not ready to rock dark nails. This way, I have dark nails mixed in with some summery colors!

Fun Combo- OPI Call My Cell-ery over OPI Green-wich Village

OPI Call My Cell-ery over OPI Green-wich Village, no flash

I've had OPI Call My Cell-ery probably for about a year now and haven't worn it. It's so sheer, I just didn't know what to do with a sheer, sparkly green. I wanted to wear OPI Green-wich Village the other day, so I decided to try it with a layer of Call My Cell-ery on top. It looks really pretty!

I think Call My Cell-ery would be a good layering polish with any color really. It doesn't have much green to it, just the very fine sparkles. I want to try this over a teal color next. It would also be great over navy blue or black. I thought maybe if I layer it over Essie Mint Candy Apple, or maybe China Glaze Re-freshmint, it would kind of resemble Chanel Jade. The shimmer is subtle in Call My Cell-ery, so it might work! So, if you have an unloved bottle of Call My Cell-ery hanging around, give it a try as a layering polish!

Nail of the Day: Essie Pretty Edgy with Sinful Colors Paris

Two coats Essie Pretty Edgy with one coat Sinful Colors Paris, no flash

Check out this hot combo I wore the other day!! It's two coats of Essie Pretty Edgy (read my review here) with one coat of Sinful Colors Paris. Sinful Colors Paris is a gold glitter in a clear base. The glitter is all the same size, kind of small-ish. I think it works best as a top coat over another polish. I did try it alone. After three coats, I still had a lot of nail visible. Plus, I think it just looks amazing over bright colors like Pretty Edgy!!!

Essie Pretty Edgy is available online at Transdesign. Sinful Colors polishes are available at a Walgreens near you.

In other news, my China Glaze Vintage Vixen polishes finally came, so I'll probably get those up on Friday!

China Glaze Nail of the Day: Gold Party

China Glaze "Gold Party", no flash

LOL before we get confused, "Gold Party" is what I'm calling this nail look, it is NOT a new polish from China Glaze. I was bored of cremes and shimmers, so I decided I needed some bling in my manicure. As you many have read before, our first choice for bling is almost always China Glaze Medallion. EK and I absolutely love it. (Although right now, EK has on a SICK combo of OPI Ink and Sinful Colors Green Ocean. I HIGHLY recommend this and we will have pics of that soon.)

China Glaze "Gold Party" Matte, no flash

This mani is two coats of China Glaze Twenty-Four K, a yellow gold metallic shimmer, topped with two coats of China Glaze Medallion. To make it even more fun later on, I added one coat of China Glaze Matte Magic. I have been using KnockOut Cosmetics Flatte Top as my mattifying top coat, but China Glaze Matte Magic mattifies polish better than KnockOut Flatte Top. In this case, it provided that awesome frosted glass look that I love when mattifying glitter. Matte Magic is also WAY cheaper and does a better job for a fraction of the cost!

China Glaze "Gold Party" matte, with flash

China Glaze Twenty-Four K may be available at your local Sally Beauty Supply. China Glaze Medallion and Matte Magic are available online on 8ty8 Beauty.

China Glaze Matte Magic was sent to me by a PR Rep for China Glaze. For more information, please see our Disclosure Policy.

In nail news today, OPI released Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow SUEDE!! SUEDE. A. NEW. SUEDE. I always hoped OPI would release more suedes. A green one is like my dream come true!!!!

Nail of the Day: South Beach Re-freshmint

For my last China Glaze Up and Away Nail of the Day (last for awhile anyway), I had to do a look with Re-freshmint. This is a super subtle look, but extremely pretty in person!!!

For this look, I did three coats of Re-freshmint with two coats of Zoya South Beach Ice on top (see South Beach Ice alone here).

Three coats Re-freshmint, two coats Zoya South Beach Ice, with flash

On camera, South Beach Ice just looks like a layer of shimmer, but in person, you can see that it really deepens and adds to the color of Re-freshmint. These two polishes together make one of my favorite looks for Spring 2010. If you own both of these polishes, try this out immediately. If you only own one of these, buy the other one now!! If a polish company came out with a polish that looked like this, I guarantee there would be a stampede for it!!!

China Glaze Up and Away is available online at 8ty8Beauty and in an Ulta store near you. Zoya South Beach Ice is available online at Art of Beauty.

Nail of the Day: Up and Away Purples

I have a few posts this week where I take the China Glaze Up and Away polishes and make them more exciting (LOL)!!

Before I get into today's NOTD, I have a quick announcement. I am going to Ireland this week for a big dance competition called the All-Ireland Championships. So, any posts this week are scheduled posts. EK will be answering comments whenever she can, but if it seems a little slow around here, that's why. The blog will return to normal when I come home Sunday night. Next week, I'll have a few new things to show you! Now, back to our regularly scheduled program.

Today's NOTD features the two purple polishes from China Glaze Up and Away, Grape Pop and Light as Air.

Three coats Light as Air, Tip with Grape Pop, with flash

I did three coats of Light as Air, followed by my favorite tip look, the inverted V. This tip look works out best when you wipe off the flat wide part of the polish brush on both sides. Do not wipe off the sides of the brush. Then, use the side of the brush to make one stroke of polish from the side of your nail to the middle at the top. Do the same on the other side. Voila! Easy, cool-looking V-shaped tip!

Valentine's Day Nail Fail

Three coats Color Club Ghost of Chance, with Essie Pama tips, with flash

I wanted to do something creative and fun for my Valentine's Day manicure. I started off with three coats of the Color Club white from the Halloween set, Ghost of Chance. Then I did my favorite kind of tip, the inverted V, using Essie Pama. This kind of tip is very easy to do free-hand. You just start on one side of your nail and make a line diagonally upwards to the middle of your nail, and then repeat on the other side. With just two strokes of your brush, you have this cool looking tip. So far so good, I liked this look.

Three coats Color Club Ghost of Chance, Essie Pama tips, one coat Color Club Yule Love It!, with flash

I should have left the manicure alone after the Essie Pama tips. But, "What's a festive mani without glitter?", I said to myself. So I did a halfmoon mani with Color Club Yule Love It! (See Yule Love It! by itself) Obviously, this is UGLY. We have a lot going on- tips, halfmoon, glitter, etc. I also must have been half asleep putting the stickers on for the halfmoons because some of them are all crooked and weird. This is a FAIL.

FAIL

After realizing that this mani was best left as an idea in my head, I covered the whole nail with Color Club Yule Love It!. Unfortunately, this is still ugly because there is white showing through and the tips look ugly underneath the glitter. LOL. So basically, this mani stinks. I am removing it and just doing a nice couple of coats of Color Club Yule Love It!. It's a pretty pinky-red glitter and that is just fine for me this Valentine's Day!

More FAIL!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!! I hope your Vday nail look turned out better than mine LOL!!!! Any big plans for the day? I'm not big on Valentine's Day, so my plans are to wear the MAC make-up I bought yesterday (Spring Color Forecast!!!!) and watch Glee with the boy.

The Color Club Halloween mini set is still available online at Head2Toe Beauty. Both the Halloween and Christmas sets are still available at a Beauty Plus Salon near you (I just saw them for $7.99 last weekend).
