Lynnderella Mon Petit ChouChou

Base: one coat Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Color: two coats OPI Pink Friday, two coats Lynnderella Mon Petit ChouChou
Top: one coat Gelous
Application: good (out of poor, average, good, excellent)
OPI Pink Friday was sent for review. Lynnderella Mon Petit ChouChou was purchased with my own money. All opinions are my own honest thoughts.

Happy Easter! So I may have mentioned this a few times here, but I don't really wear pink polish very often. I own a ton of it, but it seems to just sit there (except for neon pinks, those I wear in the summer). I have to say, it was kind of a nice change of pace to wear Lynnderella Mon Petit ChouChou for a few days though. Mon Petit ChouChou is from Lynn's Groundhog Day collection, so I'm still playing catch-up here! I wanted a nice matchy pink base for this mani, so I dug OPI Pink Friday out of my pink drawer. Pink Friday is a nice bubblegum creme that I actually like, but haven't worn since I got it due to my lack of pink love. Mon Petit ChouChou is a sheer pink base with lots of purple shimmer. There is lavender, white, and pink glitter, as well as some holo glitter pieces, flowers and hearts. I got a nice pink flower on my index finger and a lavender heart on my right thumb nail that I could not for the life of me take a decent picture of.

Mon Petit ChouChou was pretty good to work with. Some of the glitter needing arranging, so I just pushed it around with my brush a bit. That giant pink flower laid nice and flat though, so that was excellent. I used two dabbed and pushed coats of this over two coats of OPI Pink Friday. I thought this looked like a pretty combo for Easter! Do you have any good Easter plans?

Lynnderella Mon Petit ChouChou is available now on Lynnderella.com.

My Mint Phase Continues: Lynnderella Spumoni

Base: one coat Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Color: two coats Nicole by OPI Alex By the Books, two coats Lynnderella Spumoni
Top: one coat Poshe
Application: good (out of poor, average, good, excellent)
Nicole by OPI Alex By the Books was sent for review. Lynnderella Spumoni was purchased with my own money. All opinions are my own honest thoughts.

I have a lot of catching up on my Lynnderella swatching to do. I can't believe I still have polishes from the Season's Glitterings holiday collection that I haven't swatched! I've been saving a few of the holiday polishes, like Lynnderella Spumoni, because I felt like I wanted to wear them in the spring. Spumoni fits right in with my mint obsession right now. Spumoni is a sheer mint base with mint and white satin glitters, along with a few red, black and pink glitters in the mix. The base of this one is quite sheer. I've actually seen it layered over purples and pinks and it looks fantastic. So don't feel like you have to wear it over a mint base, you can explore the layering possibilities however you like!

This is two regular coats of Spumoni over two coats of Nicole by OPI Alex By the Books. I didn't feel the need to dab this one on. All of the glitter came out pretty easily and it laid very flat. I only used a coat of Poshe to top this off and my nails felt perfectly smooth. I had to take this off after only a day of wearing it to swatch some other things, and I was so sad taking it off. It's really gorgeous and I will definitely have to wear it again.

Lynnderella Spumoni and other Lynnderella lacquers are available on Lynnderella.com. I seriously need to order the spring Everything's Coming Up Neon collection!

Lumina Lacquer Grape Granita

Base: one coat Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Color: two coats Lumina Lacquer Grape Granita over two coats NARS Purple Rain
Top: one coat Poshe
Application: excellent (out of poor, average, good, excellent)
Lumina Lacquer Grape Granite was sent for review. NARS Purple Rain was purchased by me. All opinions are my own honest thoughts.

When I first saw Lumina Lacquer Grape Granita in the bottle, I knew it would become an instant favorite of mine. Purple, pink and white glitters, with pale pink, purple, red and many other color hearts, stars and flowers, all in a clear base, Grape Granita seems like it was made for me! I love shaped glitter, if you can't tell already, and purple is my favorite color, so WIN! Like Lumina Lacquer Deep Inside of You, the shaped glitters are very plentiful and come out of the bottle very willingly. As you can see in the shot below, I got two flowers and a star all on one nail, and that was the rule for this polish, not the exception!

I dabbed two coats of Grape Granita over NARS Purple Rain. When dabbed on, this polish was super easy to apply. The glitter is very plentiful and the base is thick enough to suspend it all, but not so thick that it's hard to work with. The larger pieces seemed to lay pretty flat too. I used one coat of Poshe, but you may want a coat of Gelous to smooth it out perfectly. I can't wait to show you the next two Lumina Lacquers I ordered too!!

Lumina Lacquer Grape Granita is sold out on Lumina Lacquer's Big Cartel store right now, but check out the Lumina Lacquer Facebook page to hear the latest restock news!

New Brand Obsession: Lumina Lacquer Deep Inside of You

Base: one coat Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Color: one coat Lumina Lacquer Deep Inside of You over two coats Sephora by OPI Countdown to the Kiss
Top: one coat Poshe
Application: excellent (out of poor, average, good, excellent)
Lumina Lacquer Deep Inside of You was sent for review. Sephora by OPI Countdown to the Kiss was purchased by me. All opinions are my own honest thoughts.

I always get super excited to try new indie polish brands, so it's no surprise that I was thrilled when two pretties from Lumina Lacquer arrived. I decided to try Lumina Lacquer Deep Inside of You first, being that I love Third Eye Blind. Yes, Lumina Lacquer has a whole Third Eye Blind collection! I can't help singing the songs when I read the names, especially Never Let You Go. But anyway, Deep Inside of You is a mix of white and pink shredded glitter, pink flowers, a lot of small iridescent holo glitter and some other neat stuff in a clear base. Let me just say, I was ASTONISHED about how many flowers came out while I was applying this. There is no need to fish for them, I actually had to put some back because they wouldn't fit on my small nail beds!

This is just one coat of Deep Inside of You dabbed on top of two coats of Sephora by OPI Countdown to the Kiss. The glitter is so plentiful, I didn't see the need to do another coat. Dabbing is really the best application for applying glitters like this. If you don't dab chunky glitters on already, what are you waiting for?? LOL. When dabbed on, this applies beautifully. Nice and easy to work with! It was fairly smooth with a coat of Poshe, but some of you smooth nail fanatics may want one coat of Gelous as well. I loved this polish and the next one you'll see SO MUCH that I ordered two more Lumina Lacquers immediately after swatching these!!

Lumina Lacquers are available on Big Cartel. Deep Inside of You is currently sold out, but I'm sure she will restock soon and there are quite a few other pretties available now!

The Polish Bar Shiny Pebbles

Base: one coat Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Color: three coats The Polish Bar Shiny Pebbles
Top: one coat Poshe
Application: excellent (out of poor, average, good, excellent)
The Polish Bar Shiny Pebbles was sent for review. All opinions are my own honest thoughts.

Today I have another lovely spring polish from The Polish Bar. The Polish Bar Shiny Pebbles is a white crelly base with a really interesting mix of copper, turquoise, brown and bronze glitters. I am a huge fan of the copper/bronze/gold and turquoise combination, especially in spring and summer make-up. Until now, I didn't own a polish with this particular color mix, so I'm really happy Janice from The Polish Bar sent me Shiny Pebbles! I also like the cute name! It reminds me of being a kid and looking for pretty little rocks in the sand at the beach.

This is three thin coats of Shiny Pebbles. It was super easy to apply. The crelly base builds up nicely in three coats and never looks streaky. The glitter is quite plentiful, no fishing trips required here. The Polish Bar is a great brand for anyone who has been avoiding some indies because the idea of layering them over a base color sounds like too much work. I have tried I think 6 polishes from The Polish Bar thus far and none of them have needed a base color. Nor have they needed any special application methods like dabbing. Just polish and go!

The Polish Bar Shiny Pebbles and other The Polish Bar lacquers are available at The Polish Bar on Etsy. I don't see Shiny Pebbles available at the moment, but I'm sure it will be soon. For more information about The Polish Bar, check them out on Facebook.

The Polish Bar Spring Showers

Base: one coat Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Color: three coats The Polish Bar Spring Showers
Top: one coat Poshe
Application: excellent (out of poor, average, good, excellent)
This product was sent for review. All opinions are my own honest thoughts.

All of my favorite polishes this spring have been either mint or periwinkle blue. I guess I'm just going through a phase! My newest periwinkle love is The Polish Bar Spring Showers. Janice, the creator of The Polish Bar polishes, calls this a cornflower blue crelly with silver holo glitter in various sizes and shapes. I can see cornflower here too, but I get a little more hint of purple, so I like to call that periwinkle. Either way, this is such a lovely color for spring and the silver holo glitter looks gorgeous in this blue base.

This is three thin coats of Spring Showers. Spring Showers was easy to apply and the glitter was plentiful. I have had a really great experience with The Polish Bar lacquers I've tried so far. The crelly finish of the base color builds up nicely in two to three coats, but it also allows the glitter to show through. Janice sent me mini bottles to try, and I know some people find minis hard to work with, but these have performed really well.

The Polish Bar Spring Showers is available now at The Polish Bar Etsy store, along with the rest of Janice's spring collection. For more news about The Polish Bar, check them out on Facebook.

Best St. Patrick's Day Polish Ever: Lynnderella Parade Route

Base: one coat Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Color: white- three coats OPI Alpine Snow Matte, orange- two coats OPI Tangerine Scene, green- two coats OPI Green-wich Village, all topped with one dabbed coat Lynnderella Parade Route
Top: one coat Poshe
Application: good (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

You know those incredibly lucky people who get special custom Lynnderella polishes made for them? Well, I am not one of those blessed few, but I get to feel like I am, thanks to my newest addition to my Lynn LE collection, Lynnderella Parade Route. By now I think you all now I am an Irish dancer, so imagine my delight when I saw Parade Route on Lynnderella.com! Parade Route is primarily a mix of green, orange and white glitters- the colors of the Irish flag!- in a green shimmer base. I have to quote Lynnderella's description here because I love it, "Parade Route is a Saint Patrick’s Day themed multi-glitter featuring green, white and orange glitters as well as assorted debris left by happy parade viewers (who may or may not have had more than one cup of Irish coffee). Clear green-shimmered base." I love the vision of the happy parade go-ers and the confetti and such that is left at the end of St. Patrick's Day parades. I have marched in many a St. Patrick's Day parade over my years as a dancer, and this description really rang true for me.

I am so thrilled that Lynn made a polish with the colors of the Irish flag, it means a lot to me. It feels like it was made for me, even though I know it wasn't!! I wanted to really bring out the flag colors, so I dabbed one coat of Parade Route over OPI polishes in green, white, and orange. My thumb was green, so the actual order was green-white-orange. Parade Route was super easy to apply, I dabbed on one coat and got all kinds of cool glitter pieces. My mom also wore this as an accent nail and got an orange heart! So cool!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all my readers! I hope you are doing something fun today. I will be doing shows all day, and have basically been doing shows since Friday at 10 a.m. We have a good time though!

Parade Route is a limited edition Lynnderella and will hopefully become available again at Lynnderella.com in an auction-style sale.

OPI Oz The Great and Powerful Swatches Part 2!

Base: one coat Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Color: three coats OPI I Theodora You
Top: one coat Poshe
Application: average (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

Today I have the rest of the OPI Oz The Great and Powerful polishes for your viewing pleasure! OPI I Theodora You is a sheer strawberry milk pink. I really like this particular shade of sheer pink, but I had a couple of streaks on my middle nail, as you can probably see. But no worries really, because I'm sure it will still make a fantastic jelly sandwich! (By the way, every time I go to type sandwich, I type "snadwich" instead)

This is three coats of I Theodora You. I am not sure what caused that streak on my middle nail, as the other nails seem fine. Three coats is actually more opaque than I thought it would be too. The formula is pretty good, but I just didn't think it was as flawless as the NYC Ballet collection sheer jellies, or even Don't Burst My Bubble (also from the Oz collection).

Base: one coat Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Color: two coats of OPI Which Is Witch? over three coats OPI I Theodora You
Top: one coat Poshe
Application: good (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

I Theodora You definitely makes a fantastic base for glitter, as evidenced by these pictures of OPI Which Is Witch? Which Is Witch is a mix of teeny holo bar glitter, small and micro silver glitter, and medium-sized holo hex glitter in a clear base. I normally hate bar glitter, but this bar glitter is too tiny to bother me. I actually really like this, and I love it over I Theodora You. Normally I'd layer this over a dark or a bright, but as I said in my Oz Part 1 post, I'm really into soft looking glitter right now. It's a phase and I'm enjoying it!

Which Is Witch? applied nicely for the most part. This is two coats applied normally. My only complaint was that most of my holo hexes were stuck to the bottom, as you can see in the bottle above. I even left this polish upside down for about 10 minutes before using it. I would recommend leaving it upside down overnight or maybe using a cuticle pusher to scrape some away from the bottom. Otherwise, good formula and application.

Base: one coat Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Color: three coats of OPI Glints of Glinda
Top: one coat Poshe
Application: good (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

OPI Glints of Glinda is an interesting tan sheer. I say interesting because I am not sure I have ever seen a sheer tan jelly before. I am not sure if I would ever wear this alone. It kind of makes the whites of my nails look yellowed. I think this could be a great alternative for darker skinned ladies whose only options for classic sheers have previously been whites and pinks. I also think I will greatly enjoy layering glitter over this. I'm already picturing this as a base for chocolate brown glitter, yum!

Glints of Glinda has a better formula than I Theodora You, it was not streaky at all. This is three coats and it has that squishy look to it. I don't know... maybe I could wear this alone. It's kind of growing on me!

Base: one coat Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Color: two coats of OPI When Monkeys Fly over three coats OPI Glints of Glinda
Top: one coat Gelous, one coat Poshe
Application: average-good (see notes) (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

OK now we get to the controversial one, OPI When Monkeys Fly. I say controversial jokingly, because a lot of people were all riled up about the curling hex glitter in this one. When Monkeys Fly is a cool mix of large gold hex glitter and holo silver glitter in a clear base. My gold hex glitter honestly didn't seem that bad. From some of the posts I read, I thought it would be terrible. I took a side view shot for you, so you can see that the hexes don't really stick up too much.

I never really know how to rate a polish like this. I dabbed on two coats of When Monkeys Fly and I had no trouble with application. However, if you went to apply this with normal brushstrokes, I'm sure the glitter wouldn't go on as easily. So, with dabbing, it's good application. Without, I'd say poor to average. I used one coat of Gelous and one coat of Poshe to smooth the hexes out, and they honestly did not stick up any more than other large shaped glitters that indie makers are using.

If you absolutely hate glitter that sticks up even a little, I would skip When Monkeys Fly. If you don't really care, and these pictures make you go "oooooh shiny!", then I think it's worth it. It's very pretty and different looking.

Overall, my personal favorites from the collection are When Monkeys Fly and Lights of Emerald City (oooh big surprise, I like glitter haha). Don't Burst My Bubble and Glints of Glinda are good options if you're looking for more sheer jellies.

Do you plan to see Oz The Great and Powerful? I will probably wait until it comes out on DVD, as I don't have time to watch movies at the moment!

As with all OPI nail lacquers, the shades inspired by Oz The Great and Powerful contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide Brush for the ultimate in application.
This limited edition promotion is available now at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each nail lacquer.
